Mike Grimley, a Director in our Pensacola office, will present at the International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI) Construction Risk Conference on October 29 in San Diego, California. The CRC offers education, networking, and business opportunities, making it an essential event for those managing or insuring construction risk. Mike will offer his expertise and experience on Insurance Strategy and Claim Adjudication for Construction Near Waterways. Contractors working over or near waterways may have additional liabilities for worker injuries beyond traditional workers compensation benefits. His presentation will dive deep into the applicability or interplay of marine general liability, workers compensation, and federal laws such as the US Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and the Jones Act. Mike has more than 30 years of experience in representing insurance companies, corporations, business entities, and individuals in a wide variety of litigation. He has learned that the best way to partner with his clients so they can achieve their business goals is through a proactive approach that involves developing an early case assessment through focused discovery, targeted motion practice, and timely dispute resolution, and if the case can not be resolved favorably, then through an aggressive defense at trial. As the first Hispanic woman on record to be admitted to practice law in Mississippi, Doris knows that diversity leads to better outcomes and a more productive work environment. Melanie Donahue joins Doris in marking her years of service in Greater New Orleans, where she has advocated for her clients over the past five years. Backed by more than 15 years of litigation experience and an MBA, Melanie has the understanding and skill to implement a successful defense strategy for insurance defense and coverage, class action, and construction litigation. Our Tampa office is closed today (Wednesday, October 9) and tomorrow (Thursday, October 10.) Our thoughts and prayers are with our Florida team members, their families, and our neighbors.
