Just in time for the holidays, Dr. Neighbors has another "Lunch and Learn" experience to share, this time highlighting the department that warms our hearts and our bellies - GISD's outstanding Department of Child Nutrition! Take a look as he gains insight into the workings of the Ball High School cafeteria, even from a few proud BHS grads who are now GISD employees.

How important is our school district’s role in the Galveston economy? Incredibly important, and that was recognized and celebrated in multiple ways during the Galveston Economic Development Partnership Summit hosted today at Texas A&M University Galveston Campus. GISD Board of Trustees Vice President Johnny Smecca and Superintendent Dr. Neighbors provided insight during informative panels, and our robotics, career and technical education, and media arts and digital technology departments were represented as students displayed their knowledge and skills to summit attendees. We are proud to be a part of this city and economy and we realize the importance of teamwork and bridging opportunities with our many community partners. We look forward to growing together while Building a Better GISD!

Happy Thanksgiving Day! GISD Family and Community Engagement (FACE) would like to say thank you to the Galveston Kiwanis Club for their generous donation of over 100 Thanksgiving food baskets to GISD families. Baskets included turkey 🦃, fresh and canned vegetables 🥕🥗, yams 🍠, and stuffing. We are grateful for the collaboration of Galveston Kiwanis Club members and UTMB student volunteers who worked together with Arlan's Groceries to assemble baskets that were delivered to our GISD families' homes.

Manuel Garza is a principal who is rarely frazzled, and that couldn’t be more fitting as he leads our district’s Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP). You could say that he handles the “tough stuff,” yet he does so continuously with a cool head and a calm demeanor. Students may not want to end up at his campus, but we’re sure glad he ended up with us. Thank you for all you do for GISD! #NationalPrincipalsMonth
