Yesterday we wrapped the first Games for Change India Festival and I couldn’t be more proud. Our partners at UNESCO MGIEP and RUBIKA Pune put together 2 days of inspirational sessions about the power of games to make impact. With few exceptions (me included) all the speakers were from India and it demonstrated how creativity, integrity and curiosity flourishes in all parts of the world. I can’t wait to see the G4C India community grow! Thank you Obijiofor Aginam, PhD, Nandini Chatterjee Singh, Archana Chaudhary for your partnership and vision to make this event happen. This event is a powerful platform for purpose-driven games, and I'm excited to be part of this growing movement in India! A huge thanks to Nandini Chatterjee Singh for this opportunity, and to Anya Chakraborty, Vignesh M. and Shitanshu Mishra for the constant support. 🌟 Attending the Games for Change | India Festival 🎮 We had the incredible opportunity to attend this year's festival, where we showcased our innovative game developed for MGIEP—a tool designed to enhance empathy in school children. 🎮 Key Takeaways from the Event: ✨ We learned about the latest trends and insights in game-based learning, emphasizing the importance of integrating games into educational frameworks. ✨ Our discussions highlighted that while games are a powerful medium for engagement, they must be complemented by explicit instruction to truly strengthen learning outcomes. At TomoClub, we believe that our entire methodology is rooted in this understanding. By blending interactive gaming experiences with structured educational content, we ensure that students not only engage but also retain and apply their learning effectively. We are committed to transforming the educational landscape and fostering essential skills through innovative solutions. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth and engaged in meaningful conversations with us! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make strides in the world of education through play! #TomoClub #GamesForChange #EmpathyInEducation #GameBasedLearning #EducationInnovation #MGIEP Anurag Deep, PhD Manoj Singh Susanna Pollack Zain Memon Anya Chakraborty Scot Osterweil Obijiofor Aginam, PhD Vignesh M. What a great set of projects and research presented at the Games for Change Asia-Pacific festival. I am very happy to have been a part of it this year - thank you to Dale Linegar for making that happen, and Daniel Teitelbaum and Vincent Trundle (he/him) for organizing and the staff at ACMI for hosting. So many talks mysteriously aligning to talk about dealing with complexity through co-design and participatory play. A particularly good examples from Jessica Wilson for her participative art works with CHILD NATION (and for sharing this selfie before our talks), also Ben Pederick and Hailey Cooperrider presenting on the The Adaptation Game for climate change. And to Dr. Michelle Chen, for her crowd-sourced expressive game using micro narratives from HITRECORD. TL;DR: Met cool, clever people doing cool and clever things. Had a blast. Thanks for the conversations, all!
