Congratulations to Garrison recruiter Erin Sears on her promotion from Vice President to Partner. *** WASHINGTON, D.C., July 23, 2024 – Garrison today announced the promotion of Erin Sears from Vice President to Partner. “We are very excited to elevate Erin to Partner,” said Garrison partner Dan Binstock. “Since joining Garrison in 2018, Erin has demonstrated the skills and tenacity to succeed at the highest level. We have always been proud to have Erin on our team, and this recognition is much deserved.” Erin’s practice focuses on law firm placements, spanning regulatory, transactional and litigation practices. She brings particular knowledge of practices with regulatory components, especially financial services and banking. “Erin receives more referrals than any recruiter with whom I have worked,” said Garrison partner Matt Schwartz. “Her referrals are a testament to her extensive knowledge, creative thinking, hard work, and most importantly, results.” “Erin is an exceptional recruiter,” said Garrison partner Nancy Palermo. “She is respected by our clients and a wonderful advocate for her candidates. In addition, her professionalism, excellent writing ability, and great sense of humor are appreciated by everyone on our team. I look forward to having her as my colleague and friend for years to come.” “I am so appreciative of the confidence that Garrison has in me,” said Erin. “I am thankful every day to work alongside likeminded colleagues who are so dedicated to our candidates and clients.” Erin added, “We have such a collaborative approach and genuinely enjoy working together, which is so important in this business.” Prior to joining Garrison, Erin practiced for twelve years at Paul Hastings in Washington, D.C., as well as at Three Crowns, an elite international arbitration boutique. Her law firm experience has proved an invaluable asset in understanding the DC market. Before practicing, Erin earned her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis (2004) and her B.S. from the University of Maryland (2001), with double degrees in International Business and Logistics/Transportation, along with double minors in Portuguese and Spanish. Kaitlyn Hunter and I had a fantastic time last night at the ACC National Capital Region Corporate Counsel Awards at Westwood Country Club. It was their 20th-year celebrating the achievements of local in-house counsel, and it was great catching up with some of our favorite people, including Constantine Athanas (congrats on your award!), Barry Parsons, and Charlotte L. Bernard, J.D., CIPP-US.

Brutally honest (and anonymous) advice from top law firms regarding legal recruiters.
Help accomplished partners, practice groups, and law firms navigate the lateral process and minimize missteps | Columnist, The American Lawyer ("Dear Dan”) | Top Global Legal Consultant (LawDragon, 2017 - Present)
Want some BLUNT and BRUTALLY honest advice from internal recruiters at top law firms regarding legal recruiters? Read this. It's the first in a four-part series where internal law firm recruiters anonymously dish their advice to attorneys considering legal recruiters. This first one -- "YES, your choice of recruiter can help or hurt you" -- should be mandatory reading for every single attorney who receives recruiter calls. Here are the first three zingers: • “Who you choose to use for a recruiter can make or break your job search. By having someone who is reputable in the industry, you will get more traction. For example, there are some recruiters who clearly don’t even look at our job openings or know anything about our practice areas—when they submit a candidate, I am much less likely to spend much time reviewing as I don’t have confidence they are someone who is a good fit for our firm.” • ”You may be overlooked or disadvantaged as a candidate if your recruiter is obnoxious or unreasonable.” • “We get dozens of daily emails from recruiters, and it is not hard to differentiate the ones who have done the work to know us and our openings and those who are throwing spaghetti at the wall. (For example, I received a submission this morning ‘for our Dallas office’ … we don’t have a Dallas office.)” Hope you enjoy, and please share with those who need to understand this ... which is pretty much almost all AmLaw attorneys since this stuff is never taught.
