Happy Monday #LinkedIn! I want to cover a topic this morning that I think get's a bit over-looked when it comes to the job-hunting process: Interview Prep. When I'm helping a candidate prep for an interview, I try not to over-complicate it. Stick to a handful of good practices ... and you'll do great. Remember, all interview is is a conversation with a purpose! I'll cover a few do's and don'ts below: Do's: 1) Research the Company: Understand their mission, values, and recent achievements. Show you’re genuinely interested in their journey. 2) Practice Common Questions: Rehearse responses to typical questions like "Tell me about yourself" and "Why do you want to work here?". 3) Prepare Questions: Have insightful questions ready to ask the interviewer. It shows engagement and interest. 4) Dress Appropriately: Whether it’s a suit or business casual, align with the company culture. First impressions count! 5) Arrive Early: Give yourself time to settle in and review your notes before the interview. 5 - 10 minutes early is plenty. Don'ts: 1) Overlook the Job Description: Make sure you understand the role's requirements and how your skills match up. 2) Be Late: Punctuality is a direct reflection of your professionalism. Plan for unexpected delays. 3) Wing It: Preparation is key. Don’t rely on improvisation; it can lead to missed opportunities to highlight your strengths. 4) Badmouth Previous Employers: Keep the focus positive. Criticizing past jobs or colleagues can send the wrong message. 5) Forget to Follow Up: A thank you email after the interview shows appreciation and reinforces your interest in the role. This is one that is often neglected and can be a huge differentiator. Remember: Preparation is more than half the battle won. Go in confident, stay focused, and let your qualifications shine! #InterviewTips #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #ProfessionalGrowth #InsuranceIndustry #WealthManagementIndustry #FinancialServicesIndustry
