Today, we are proud to dedicate a mortgage-free, specially adapted smart home to U.S. Army Veteran Dennet Oregon. At just 19, inspired by the events of 9/11, Dennet joined the military and served in Afghanistan before suffering life-altering injuries from an IED explosion. After enduring 18 months of intense treatment, he lost both legs below the knee but remained dedicated to serving his country. Now, Dennet and his family will have a home built for his needs, allowing them to live comfortably and focus on building new memories together. We are truly honored to provide this home for Dennet, a testament to his service, resilience, and the incredible strength of his family. It’s our privilege to support him in this next chapter of life. "Since I left Walter Reed Hospital, everywhere I've lived I haven't been able to use my wheelchair," said Dennet. "I've had to put it in storage. I'm going to actually use my wheelchair here. That alone is going to make a huge difference." A special thank you to the American people and our amazing partners, without whom this would not be possible: Amazon, Simple Green, JELD-WEN, Inc., and Gehr Industries. Back in Tennessee, we had the privilege of serving a meal to the TN National Guard as they continue to show resilience in midst of this crisis. We toured the destruction in Madeira Beach, Florida near Tampa and met with first responders on the ground. The photos below cannot convey the magnitude of the destruction. To see it in person is overwhelming. To also see our first responders working around the clock to help folks in need was truly inspirational. Last week back in Tennessee, it was an honor to serve a warm meal of appreciation to our military heroes and spend time with the brave men and women of the TN National Guard at the Joint Force Headquarters. Their resilience and dedication in times of crisis is simply amazing. I’m grateful for their service and for the difference they're making. The Gary Sinise Foundation is proud to support the relief efforts through your incredible generosity. Thank you for putting your trust in us. To help in our efforts on behalf of the remarkable folks on the frontlines, and to support the devastated areas as they begin to rebuild, please consider donating today by clicking here: https://bit.ly/3YaDqJb

Taking 19 bullets to his aircraft, he successfully saved his comrade. His actions reflect the highest traditions of bravery and selflessness. We salute you!
