Huge kudos to our school-based Prevention Counselors, Molly and Kathy, who work at Gates Chili Central School District in the middle and high schools. They recently put together the "Hidden in Plain Sight" event for parents and guardians of students in the district. This hands-on experience helps adults find clues that their children may be using alcohol and drugs. As our counselors explained on 13WHAM ABC the overarching message of the event is to start a dialogue that will get adolescents and families the help and support they need. The New York State Education Department, in partnership with the Region 2 Comprehensive Center, hosted a webinar series in Fall 2023 entitled “Elevating Student Voice as Leaders to Advance Equity and Inclusion.” The webinars highlighted a range of ways in which school districts across New York State are elevating students as authentic partners and leaders in creating equitable and inclusive schools.
