Earlier this week, the GDS Team attended the California Energy Storage Alliance Market Development Forum. This event is a gathering of the energy storage ecosystem, including regulators, utilities, and CESA members, focused on how energy storage will support California’s decarbonization and grid reliability goals. Donald Tretheway and Perry Servedio participated in panels and presentations throughout the event. Don spoke about spoke about the benefits of regionalization and compared and contrasted day-ahead market options for the west and moderated panels on transmission and interconnection, and CAISO markets. Perry moderated panel discussions on energy storage valuation in an ever-changing Resource Adequacy framework and a discussion on where CPUC’s IRP process is headed, how LSEs are navigating uncertainty, and the role of long duration energy storage.
