About us
The Global Engineered Device Supplier Association (GEDSA) is a nonprofit trade association formed to establish a voice for addressing issues that face enteral device manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors, and to help introduce international standards for healthcare tubing connectors. Comprised of manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers worldwide, GEDSA facilitates information flow about the initiative, which is designed to increase patient safety and optimal delivery of enteral feeding by reducing the risk of tubing misconnections. GEDSA developed and executed a communications plan to help organizations, clinicians, administrators, supply chain, and others transition to new proposed ISO standard connectors. This initiative is called Stay Connected. Thank you to leading experts from the following organizations for their support: The Joint Commission AAMI American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Feeding Tube Awareness Foundation The Institute for Safe Medication Practices Premier Safety Institute Novation The Stay Connected initiative for using safer connectors is a three-phase program. Through the Aware, Prepare, and Adopt phases, GEDSA will help facilitate a successful transition to safer connectors.

📢 New ISMP Article: "Survey Results Reveal Tubing Misconnections Are Common and Underreported—Part I" 261 clinician respondents from 11 countries provided these key insights: • Almost half (47%) reported having a tubing misconnection reach the patient or a close call occur within their organization • 16% of these cases caused harm, and 12% resulted in death. • 79% of the cases were either not reported externally or respondents were unsure if they were reported outside of their organization Read the full article to understand the critical need for safer tubing practices.
