The gelatin industry, with its abundant and exciting opportunities - particularly for engineers, has captivated Matheus' professional interest and ambitions for over a decade. Since starting his career with GELITA in 2012 as a Chemical Engineering graduate from the State University of Maringá he acquired in-depth expertise in Production and Process Engineering through different roles. 🚀 👉 Most appreciated? His work experience abroad in the United States in 2015/2016, where he gained invaluable insights into additional production processes and raw materials. 👉 Most challenging? As a Production Manager in Maringá, leading one of the largest plants in Brazil during the pandemic. Currently, Matheus leads Process Development for Brazil, overseeing and improving processes in Mococa and Maringá. He also contributes to global projects and is part of our Global Competence Centers for Collagen Peptides and Beef Hide. Recently, GELITA Singapore had the opportunity to introduce our diverse range of ingredients, from Gelatin to Bioactive Collagen Peptides, at a session at Nanyang Polytechnic. The lecturers from the School of Applied Science's Diploma in Food & Nutrition attended this session to understand more about our offerings and how they could be integrated into the students' educational journey. 🎓 Gelatin plays a crucial role in various food applications, from confectionery to dairy, thanks to its diverse functionalities. Meanwhile, our Bioactive Collagen Peptides can enhance quality of life in numerous ways and their versatility allows them to be incorporated into various food applications. Our site in Gönen, Türkiye, has substantially improved its water management. 💧 This achievement was made possible by the introduction of a new wastewater treatment method, known as the Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) process. While most activated sludge processes require three purification steps, the SBR method streamlines the process by combining the second and third steps in a single chamber. 💪 Since 2023, the modernized facility has been ensuring reliable and efficient water management and contributing to a reduction in our ecological footprint. 🌱👣 ▶️ Autonomous treatment of all the wastewater ▶️ Facility capacity more than doubled ▶️ Reduction in chemical consumption by over two thirds Want to know more about our commitment to sustainable practices? Today, GELITA joins the global celebration of International Day of Clear Air for Blue Skies. 🌍💙 At GELITA, we take our responsibility to protect the environment seriously. As part of our commitment, we have been focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. 🌱 Over the years, we have made continuous improvements in the area of emissions. Between 2020 and 2023, our specific greenhouse gas emissions decreased by almost 12% overall. 📉 Looking ahead, our goal is to achieve a remarkable -50% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2020 (Scope 1 and 2). But our ambitions don't stop there!
