The American Academy of Pediatrics’ new guidelines on school discipline reinforce what we’re championing at Georgia Appleseed—an educational approach that supports rather than excludes students. Instead of punitive measures, we know that trauma-informed practices and accessible mental health resources create pathways for every child to succeed. We’re advocating alongside pediatricians and policymakers to replace exclusionary discipline with real support that benefits Georgia’s students, schools, and communities. #SchoolJustice #MentalHealth #EducationAdvocacy

Our vision is no Tricks, just Treats for Georgia’s Children! Help us scare away barriers to opportunity for Georgia's kids and carve out change across the state and to ensure that every child has safe housing, quality education, and a bright future. Georgia's physician workforce shortage is leaving children and families across the state without access to essential healthcare. We join the Georgia Public Policy Foundation in supporting common-sense licensing reform in the state that will help experienced doctors who have moved to Georgia from abroad to more quickly return to practice and start serving local communities. Read more about this innovative workforce solution here.

Last week we celebrated #ProBonoAppreciationWeek with our Supporter Appreciation Event! The evening was apple-solutely amazing with a bushel of supporters, great turnout, spirited conversations, and crisp, delicious cider! We presented our inaugural Pom Pomme Awards, celebrating our core supporters and those who branch out for justice! Board Member N. John Bey shared why he and his firm are proud to stand with Georgia Appleseed in supporting Georgia’s children. Our new Legal and Policy Director Darlene shared program updates. And Luci tapped into the a-peel of Pro Bono Appreciation week, sharing that last year 27 firms provided over $1,067,000 worth of pro bono hours! A huge thanks to Atlanta Hard Cider & Distillery for hosting an evening that was sweet as cider! With your support, we're planting seeds of change across Georgia! Did you receive a Pom Pomme Award this year? Share a picture of you and your apple in the comments! #GeorgiaAppleseed #ProBono #Gratitude

Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice reposted this
Delighted to attend Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice's supporter appreciation event this week. In addition to meeting the staff and other supporters, I was truly honored to be given the "Data Dynamo" Pomme-Pomme award! In truth, it's Jack Cattell and Kasra Ostad Aghajani who are GtD's "data dynamic duo", but it is great working with an organization that gets the data to generate insights into its work. Since 2021 we've been evaluating the innovative FAIR (Fairness, Advocacy, Individualized Representation) program for children in Georgia's school disciplinary process.
