About us
GPSTC is Georgia’s premier training facility for all state and local public safety related units of government including police officers, firefighters, 911 operators, coroners, emergency management officers, rescue officers, jail officers and other emergency service personnel. Established in 1980, GPSTC has been training the public safety community longer than any other institution in Georgia. GPSTC is home to the Georgia Police Academy, the Georgia Fire Academy, the Basic Training Division and the Instructional Services Division, which are the state’s leading providers of basic and advanced education for public safety officials. GPSTC’s comprehensive training complex, which encompasses nearly 1,000 acres, includes facilities designed to give students real world skills, in addition to classroom experience, while earning their state-mandated certifications. Under the leadership of Director Chris Wigginton, GPSTC employs the best and brightest. Instructors at GPSTC are the foremost authorities in their respective fields with the experience necessary to design and deliver superior training programs to a range of public safety officers—from those just beginning their career, to seasoned professionals seeking specialized and advanced instruction.

Today and every day, we recognize and honor ALL first responders. They are the police officers and sheriff’s deputies who answer the call, ready to help, no matter the situation. They are the firefighters running toward the flames to protect our communities. They are EMTs, paramedics, 911 dispatchers, 988 crisis responders, and all the medical professionals providing emergency care, who sacrifice so much to be there for us when crisis hits. Without these everyday heroes, the Georgia Public Safety Training Center would not be possible. We are forever grateful for their service.

Today wrapped up the 4th Annual Southeastern Tactical Shootout! Thank you to the Georgia Tactical Officers Association for partnering with us to put on one of our favorite events of the year, and a huge thank you to all the teams and vendors who always make the event such a great success. This year we had 8 teams from Georgia, 3 from Alabama, and 1 from Florida. We hope to see everyone again next year!
