Georgia Power has been awarded more than $160 million in funding by the Department of Energy (DOE) through its Grid Deployment Office. As Georgia continues to grow, we are ensuring that customers have access to clean, safe, reliable, and affordable power, and actively pursued the funding available under the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) Program established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to help reduce the costs of necessary investments for the benefit of customers. Investments under the GRIP Program are intended to enhance grid flexibility, improve the resilience of the power system against extreme weather and ensure American communities have access to affordable, reliable electricity when and where they need it. Projects funded by the grant will be varied and will benefit communities across Georgia. As Georgia Power continues to transition to cleaner forms of energy and transform its electric grid, investments in the state's transmission system – the high voltage power lines that transport electricity from generation sources to individual communities – are critical. In the wake of the most destructive storm in Georgia Power history, Hurricane Helene, we are continuing to support customers as Georgia recovers and rebuilds. One way we are helping Georgians is through our flexible Installment Payment Plans that allow customers to pay their current account balance over multiple months. Under this initiative, eligible customers may choose to pay their balance over a period of 2, 4 or 6 months in equal installments which will be added to future payments. Enrollment for Installment Payment Plans is available through November 30, 2024. Additional information including a step-by-step guide and frequently asked questions, is available at https://lnkd.in/ed5HAqUz

As many of our customers know firsthand, Hurricane Helene was the most destructive hurricane in Georgia Power history. Many of our seasoned crew members said that they had, “never seen anything like this before." We could not be more grateful for our team for their dedication to Georgians and getting the job done safely and efficiently. We wanted to share this open letter from our CEO Kim Greene to our customers in the aftermath of this historic storm. We Are Here for Georgia. We Are Here for You.
Hurricane Helene was the most destructive hurricane in our company's 140-year history. I've spent a great deal of time in the field with our teams and neighbors over the last several weeks and, while I felt disbelief at the devastation I saw, I am inspired by the kindness, resilience and fighting spirit exhibited by our employees and neighbors. Please click to read this open letter from me to all Georgians following this historic storm. For your kindness, compassion and patience, thank you to our Georgia Power customers, communities, employees and partners. More than ever, I am proud to be a Georgian, proud to be a part of this team and grateful to be a part of this community.

Our crews are using every available resource to assist with safe and efficient restoration following Hurricane Helene. We’ve utilized drones throughout the restoration process to assess damage in the hardest hit areas- but we are also using them to transfer materials. In this video you can see a drone pulling material across standing water, helping our crews push forward in restoration. As of October 7, we have safely restored power to more than 1.5 million people, or 99% percent of all impacted customers, following the storm. Helene spared virtually no part of the state and severely impacted areas such as Augusta, Savannah, Valdosta and many other communities. We are continuing to work with the same passion to get the remaining 1% impacted the energy that they need. Thank you and please continue to stay safe.

As our Helene restoration efforts continue across the state, our crews are continuing to work through devastated areas using every method possible. In some cases we have to use boats and helicopters to access transmission lines and damaged infrastructure - check out the vegetation management team working with crews in boats navigating a flooded right of way. The damage has been extreme in the hardest hit areas - and we have 20,000+ team members working right now on restoration. When we say we’re doing everything we can to get the lights back on, we mean it. By water, by land and by air. Thank you and stay safe.

Since conditions became safe to enter the field, our crews have been working around the clock to restore power in the wake of Hurricane Helene – the most destructive hurricane in the Georgia Power’s history. As of Tuesday afternoon, we have grown our storm response to 20,000 personnel and have restored over 1 million customers. We currently still have approximately 278,000 customers without power- and we are not slowing down our response. We will have boots on the ground, and in the bucket, working all hands on deck to get the power restored. We are grateful of your support during this time and are proud to serve Georgians.

We have boots on the ground, continuing to work around the clock in the hardest hit areas across the state. They are continuing to work their way down the lines to get the most customers on - so you may not see them right on your street, but they are working on lines that serve your community. Our top priority is restoring power as quickly as possible while ensuring the safety of our teams and the public. No matter if you are in a rural area, a city center, or somewhere in between, know that we are here, working to get the lights on. For more information visit georgiapower.com/storm

Sun up to sun down and throughout the nights, our crews continue to work for Georgians. In some of the hardest hit areas across the state, including Augusta and South Georgia, we are seeing catastrophic destruction of our infrastructure - rebuilding the power grid and not just repairing. We are continuing to work around the clock to restore power for our customers quickly and safely. Know that the team is all hands on deck and we will not stop working until every person who can be restored, is restored. Please continue to stay safe and thank you.

When we say that every resource is deployed- we are talking about line crews, mutual assistance, fleet crews, damage assessors, logistics, drone pilots, helicopters, and every member of our team. We utilize helicopters to assess damage, clear debris, and cut tress. This tool is used to help clear transmission lines, some of which were damaged by the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. Our team is boots on the ground, in the bucket, and in the sky working around the clock to get your lights on.
