Congratulations to the four Germantown Police Department Officers who graduated from the first Regional Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) session on December 15th. The Regional Crisis Intervention training was presented by Memphis Police Department and hosted by Germantown Police Department. Thirteen different agencies where represented at this training session. CIT training is a specialized, 40-hour program for law enforcement officers, and in conjunction with robust community partnerships, the goal is to improve outcomes of encounters with people living with behavioral health challenges. In the 30 plus years since it was created, the CIT model has spread across the nation and even been replicated around the world.

Yesterday, we held a pinning ceremony to officially promote Lt. Ben Sharp to the position of Captain in our patrol division. Captain Sharp has been with the department since 2010 and has made his mark both in our patrol and investigations divisions. He was a valued member of our SWAT team prior to his position as Lieutenant in Investigations. His family was on hand to celebrate his promotion. Please join us in congratulating Captain Ben Sharp!
