In IT, one thing you learn very quickly is that the only constant in this career path is change. Things in an environment are always moving and changing – including critical data. Cloud and hybrid-cloud transitions have caused legacy and application data to be shuttled between on-premise datacenters and the cloud, and now, back to […]

Another Trump presidency could bring significant implications for enterprise tech, particularly through a focus on deregulation, increased M&A, and expanded Big Tech investments. this also extends to advancements in military technology, Israel’s influence on #cybersecurity, the impact of initiatives like StarLink and rural broadband on connectivity, #NuclearEnergy, #AI, the #CHIPSAct, and the expanding space industry. Altogether, these insights suggest that a pro-deregulation agenda, aiming to remove ten regulations for each new one introduced, could profoundly shape the future of enterprise technology. #Rundown

In response to rising cyber threats and high-profile data breaches, Google has announced that it will require all Google Cloud users to enable multi-factor authentication (#MFA) by 2025. Starting this month, users will receive reminders to implement MFA, with mandatory enforcement beginning in the new year. This policy shift, aimed at protecting against unauthorized access through stolen credentials, aligns Google with other cloud giants like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft, which have also moved to enforce MFA. Google says this requirement addresses the heightened security risks in enterprise cloud environments, where sensitive data remains a prime target for #cyberattacks. #Rundown #CyberSecurity

Cloudera recently launched the Cloudera Private Link Network, a service designed to provide secure, internet-free connectivity across multi-cloud environments. This network allows data to travel securely between customer workloads and Cloudera's Control Plane without traversing the public internet, addressing privacy and regulatory concerns for industries like finance, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. By using services like AWS PrivateLink and Azure Private Link, the Private Link Network enables consistent security across cloud providers, reducing the complexities of cross-cloud setups and lowering total costs by simplifying network management. This development marks Cloudera's effort to support enterprises with strict data protection needs in leveraging multi-cloud environments efficiently. Thank you to The Futurum Group's Mitch Ashley for your insights.

In this Tech Field Day Showcase article presented by Interlock Technology, Max Mortillaro discusses how integrity and consistency are crucial for any dataset but are often overlooked during migrations, especially when moving from legacy to modern, incompatible systems. Cross-protocol migrations make it challenging to maintain data consistency, permissions, and integrity. Interlock’s A3 #DATAFORGE solutions address these challenges, ensuring data consistency and reliability across the application lifecycle, ultimately supporting successful migration projects. #Sponsored #TFDShowcase

OpenAI is reportedly in talks with Broadcom to develop #AI chips that are specific to #OpenAI inferencing models according to a Bloomberg report. The people sourced in the reporting also mentioned that OpenAI is talking to TSMC for custom chips as well. The move would be a big shift away from using GPU-based models like the ones favored by NVIDIA. Stocks for both companies rose on the news.

There's a new big dog in the #AI #supercomputer space and it DOESN'T run on #InfiniBand. xAI's Colossus is powere by 100,000 NVIDIA #GraceHopper GPUs, with plans to double that number. It took 122 days to design #Colossus and only 19 days to install all the racks and get to the training. How can you run a massive project like this without #InfiniBand? Well that's thanks to Spectrum-X #Ethernet, the custom #AI-focused version developed by NVIDIA. The core of the xAI Spectrum-X network runs at 800Gbps and is used to feed systems running the Bluefield-3 DPU in order to accelerate performance. #Rundown
