    🚺Women's health issues, such as endometriosis, PCOS, and autoimmune diseases, often receive far less research funding compared to other medical conditions. 👩Moreover, these conditions are often dismissed or misunderstood, leading to delayed diagnoses and inadequate care. When we neglect women's health, it widens the health equity gap, affecting not just women but families and communities as a whole. In fact, recent research by the World Economic Forum shows how "women are second-class citizens when it comes to health," and fixing this inequity could be worth $1 trillion.     🔦 It's time for this month's Healthee Spotlight! Luke Aslesen, founder of INFRMD, is working hard to help employees understand the benefits their employers provide. We dove deeper into how his work in the insurance broker space has guided his innovation at INFRMD. 1. What kind of work do you do at INFRMD? What’s the idea behind it, and what drives your work there? INFRMD was born about three years ago, literally, in a prospect meeting. It was a large CPA firm, and they said, “Hey, everything looks good. But there's one thing we want to know. Do you have education engagement tools to help rally the troops around the benefits?” But the deeper I dug, the more evident it became that nobody was doing that. So, I started recording videos via webcam. Fast forward to today, we've got a 125-video library, everything from “What's in an HSA?” to “I'm 26, should I stay in my parents' plan?” or "How does COBRA work?” Literally, if you have a benefits question, we answer it. All the videos are 90 seconds or less. They have no insurance jargon, and they're explained by me. But what's really cool is the information is important, but the way it's delivered and consumed is probably more important. 2. What trends have you noticed in the insurance broker industry recently that bear greater attention? It feels like every single day, a new solution. Right? But I really do believe, at the risk of sounding like I'm tooting my own horn, engaging employee populations and educating them on how this insurance stuff works. I think that's going to be a huge conversation over the next few years. The thing that I say to people is, you spend seven figures on this thing. But are your people understanding why you spend that money, or are they just saying, “Our benefits suck. My company doesn’t care.” We decided to partner with employers and say, “Hey, you guys, we understand that benefits are a top-three expense for you. How do we make sure that your people are understanding and appreciating it the same way that you are?” 3. What do you think is the biggest need for helping people harness their benefits effectively over time? I think the more that a broker can act as an extension of the business they represent, the better. And the reason I say that is you've typically got CEO, CFO, HR director, benefits team involved. But the people administering the benefits tend to be HR specialists, generalists, HR directors. Unfortunately, HR tends to just be the dumping ground for all things benefits and initiatives. So I have found the more we can offload work from HR teams so they can go do their other work, I think that's where it's going. Even with the automation of benefits and in the broker space, the connection point has to be with employees. The end user is the employee and the people that are responsible for managing that group of people are the HR teams.
