It’s been about a year since my last post on 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞, and I thought it was time for a little update. The topic remains hot and evolving (for example, Thoughtworks discusses it in its recent blog post "Macro Trends in the Tech Industry | October 2024"). Over the past year, I’ve generally noticed: - The enhancement of certain products with #AI, and interaction with major AI services as a new supported feature, which I would say was quite predictable. - Many products are now more explicitly positioning themselves as alternatives to traditional PaaS solutions, likely in pursuit of a sustainable business model and aware that they are still immature for enterprise environments. - Unfortunately, there’s a lot of "do the same things but in a simpler and faster way," which is typically the slogan of immature technologies that, over time, tend to become more complex and slower. - Ampt remains the most promising, thanks to the support of many well-known figures in serverless computing like Adrian Cockcroft, Peter Sbarski and many others. - Winglang is the most ambitious, but I’m not at all convinced by the new language approach. - I really like Nitric: it doesn’t have a ton of components yet, but it communicates well and hits the mark clearly. - I greatly appreciate the emergence of concepts like "think like an application architect" and "describe how your application needs to work, not how it should be implemented." Stay tuned! #infrastructurefromcode #softwarearchitecture #infrastructureascode #serverless #terraform #ansible

Don't miss Jeremy Daly on the Software Huddle podcast with Alex DeBrie and Sean Falconer!
New episode out now! 🎧 Dive into some fun and engaging Software Huddle 💻 Infrastructure, AWS, AI and Jobs, HTMX & more Today we have a special guest. We have Jeremy Daly, who’s been in the cloud space for a while. Jeremy is the co-founder of Ampt, which is building an abstraction infrastructure layer on top of AWS, just to make it simpler to sift through all the different options and develop on AWS and do best practices there. So we wanted to get his opinions on a lot of different infrastructure stuff that he's seeing and how AI is changing development. We even talk about some front end stuff at the end and HTMX and whether it's real, whether it's a troll. So lots of good stuff in this episode. Amazon S3 just added support for conditional writes to prevent overwriting existing files. This is such a cool feature that we couldn't wait to add it to Ampt's Storage interface. Add the `{ exists: false }` flag to your storage write requests and... voilà. 😉 https://lnkd.in/eW9tgwHZ
