The 2024 SRQ Powerboat Grand Prix, held from September 13-15, marked the 40th anniversary of this prestigious event in Sarasota, Florida. As the second longest-running powerboat race in the U.S., this year's race took place on Lido Beach, featuring a 6-mile course that tested the skill and speed of the competing boats. In the Super Stock Class, boats reached thrilling speeds of up to 160 mph. Notably, the Gettel-sponsored boat achieved an impressive 2nd place finish in this highly competitive class. The Gettel Foundation recently made a generous donation of $50,000, divided equally between two local high schools in Florida. Parrish Community High School in Bradenton and Loften High School in Gainesville each received $25,000. These funds are specifically allocated for the schools' Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair programs, supporting students interested in pursuing careers in the automotive industry.
