𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭? "It's tough to choose just one, as it's the combination of ghSMART’s values in action that inspires me. The driving force behind my decision to join was the core principle of “who matters” — our clients are people, not institutions. In a world where technology increasingly dominates, ghSMART never loses sight of the human element. Behind every decision are real people with real emotions. Strategies and challenges evolve, but it’s the individuals behind them that remain constant. At ghSMART, I've found the opportunity to drive positive results at both the organizational and individual levels. Beyond helping organizations unleash talent as a competitive advantage, I find meaning in the true partnership that forms when I support senior leaders to enhance their impact. One executive I worked with needed help to think through how best to lead across inter-generational differences, inspiring and developing younger talent within his organization. Coaching him through that journey has been truly rewarding. Another client had a long list of accomplishments but felt something was missing. Recently hearing him say, “For the first time, I feel I can just be myself,” was profound and highlights the significance of our work. When leaders show up as their best selves, they empower those around them. Another value that I find inspiring is our commitment to ‘generosity and gratitude.’ Colleagues are generous with their time and support, creating an environment of true connection and care. Finally, the firm’s ‘best you’ value ensures we prioritize personal well-being alongside business success, allowing us to deliver even greater impact for our clients." John O. believes in the power of leadership and brings this conviction to his work, helping CEOs, PE investors, and boards harness the full potential of their greatest asset – people. He has lived and worked in Nigeria, the UK, and the US. Learn more about our exceptional team here: https://bit.ly/3X12sdF #ghSMART #ThePowerofYou #LeadershipAdvisory

Should Your Next CEO Come from Your Board? Our newest article in Harvard Business Review examines when it makes sense to appoint a board member to the CEO role, what can go wrong, and how to manage the sensitive dynamics involved to boost the odds of success. If you're involved in succession planning, this is a must-read! The research is based on an in-depth study of 213 S&P CEO successions from 2018 to 2023, focusing specifically on instances where the incoming CEO was a former board member without a concurrent executive role. To deepen our understanding, we interviewed a range of CEOs, board members, and CHROs, testing hypotheses and gathering firsthand perspectives on the selection process and factors contributing to successful board-to-CEO transitions. Congratulations to ghSMART authors Reshmi Paul, Heidi Smith, Samantha Hellauer, and Shoma Hayden for this insightful article.
