About us
Girl Scouts of Manitou is the largest girl-serving organization in the Lake Michigan western shoreline area. One in every three girls in every elementary school in the council is a Girl Scout – 4,000 Girl Scouts in all or parts of the counties of Calumet, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, and Washington. More than half of those elementary aged Girl Scouts then continue in Girl Scouting through their middle school and high school years. All these Girl Scouts are guided by more than 1,300 adult members of the Girl Scouts of Manitou Council.

With Girl Scouts' athlete badges, girls dive into health, leadership, learning, and teamwork through sports. While having a ton of fun, staying active, and living their best healthy lives, they earn age-appropriate badges that teach fair play, practicing with purpose, good sportsmanship, cross-training, and coaching. They get to embrace the Girl Scout Law values like being "Honest & Fair," "Friendly & Helpful," and "Courageous & Strong," just like other superstar athletes. 🤩

Last Friday, a group of six volunteers from Froedtert Health Dermatology came to Camp Evelyn to volunteer for the International Day of Girl. This group included Manitou Council Alum and former Camp Evelyn counselor, Emily! They painted the interior of the cook's cabin and worked on trail maintenance. We are so thankful to this group for giving back to our camp. From all of us at Girl Scouts of Manitou Council and the hundreds of girls who will benefit from this service, we thank you!

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day! The place we now call Wisconsin is the ancestral land of many Native nations who call this place home, and we are honored to be a place of stories, memory, and living tradition for all. Today, Wisconsin is home to twelve Native nations. We take this day to acknowledge the Indigenous people of Wisconsin, the past, current, and future stewards of this land we stand on. 📷: Map of Wisconsin First Nations — Treaty lands in 1800 and present-day tribal lands: Wisconsinfirstnations.org.

Troop 8048 had a mission of focusing on "Make the World a Better Place" this year. Here are just a few things the troop did to give back: made and collected blankets for local homeless shelters, held an art supplies drive for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, made blessing bags for a nursing home, made thank you cards for Veterans and distributed them to different posts around the area, and made "cookies in a jar" for their whole elementary school staff to celebrate Teacher Appreciation week. They also researched pollinators and how they help the environment, created informational posters to display at their local library, and made bee hotels for their community. You go Girl Scouts! We can't wait to see what you do next. 💚

We want to give a huge shout-out and thank you to the group of employees from Sartori Company and Kohler Co. who spent yesterday at Camp Evelyn for Day of Caring! They replaced the deck on the Cook's Cabin, sanded and painted the archery range, waterproofed all the outdoor tables and benches, and did some deep cleaning. We are so thankful for this group for giving back to our camp. From all of us at Girl Scouts of Manitou Council and the hundreds of girls who will benefit from this service, we thank you! 💚
