Last weekend we held our first-ever Badge Bash weekend at Camp Welaka! 🎉 Saturday kicked off with 38 Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, along with 12 Program Aides, and Sunday welcomed 102 Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. Over the two days, the girls dove into Girl Scouts’ four program pillars—STEM, Outdoors, Entrepreneurship, and Life Skills. They practiced financial wellness, designed robots, learned about democracy, and explored nature trails. Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, and we're sharing #GoldAwardGirlScout Vanessa A's (adult, formally of #Troop11023) Gold Award Project addressing mental health, “Be LOVE-ed” 🧠💕 Concerned about the lack of mental health awareness in her community, Vanessa saw her peers struggling with school, work, relationships, and daily challenges. Determined to break the stigma surrounding mental health, she created an Instagram account that serves as a personal blog and safe space for high school and college students. Vanessa's account is filled with tools, encouraging words, and valuable information, sharing relatable personal experiences and uplifting advice. Her goal is to validate people for being human and normalize life's imperfections and hardships. In partnership with Cooper City High School, her page will continue to reach and support more people. October is #SensoryAwarenessMonth, and we're shining a light on #GoldAwardGirlScout Allison B. (adult, formally of #Troop10393) and her Gold Award Project, "Sensory Solace" 🧠✨ Recognizing that sensory processing issues can hinder a child's success in school, Allison took action with her Gold Award project. Partnering with educators at Indian Trace Elementary School in Weston, she aimed to support children in need of extra resources to regulate or improve sensory issues in the classroom. Allison hand-made calming weighted lap blankets, which provide sensory input and build tolerance. She and her team also crafted glitter bottles, Orbeez bags, and rice finders, and educated others on how to make them. One teacher shared, “The tools have been extremely beneficial for the emotional regulation of my students. During #NationalBullyingAwarenessMonth, we shine a light on #GoldAwardGirlScout Katelyn K. (#Troop20119) and her Gold Award Project spreading kindness in schools, "Adding Color to Change Perspective” 💕 Believing that instilling empathy, humility, respect, and compassion in elementary school could positively impact students throughout their lives, Katelyn partnered with The School District of Palm Beach County to introduce colorful, engaging games like hopscotch and four square to campus courtyards and playgrounds, promoting kindness through play.
