Seeking Pro Bono Fundraisers & Grant Writers! Girls 2 DIVAS is a grassroots organization dedicated to mentoring and leadership development for 3rd-12th grade girls in Tallahassee, FL. We've been making a significant impact since 2011, despite limited funding. Now, we're reaching out to the community for support. We are seeking fundraisers and grant writers to provide pro bono support in advising on our fundraising strategy and reviewing grant applications. Your expertise can help us continue and expand our programs, which include: - 3-Month Transformation Certification Program (Feb-April & Sept-Nov): Covering vital topics such as self-esteem, self-awareness, self-care, self-defense, mental health, relationships, social media etiquette, college readiness, job readiness, and financial literacy. Our DIVAS also engage in mandatory community service, fostering sisterhood and meaningful activities. - Transformation Summer Camp (June & July): An immersive experience that builds on the skills and knowledge from our certification program. - Weekly DIVA Chats: Regular mental health check-ins that provide a safe space for our girls to express themselves and receive support. - Period Party: Educating on feminine hygiene and menstrual care, promoting confidence and health. - Conference: Bringing together experts, mentors, and the community to inspire and empower our girls. We are passionate about ensuring that every DIVA is seen, heard, and supported. This is an incredible opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young girls. We are excited to share that we will be hosting our 3rd annual Period Party for 5th-9th graders. According to UNESCO, lack of access to menstrual hygiene education and products contributes to school absenteeism among girls, affecting their educational progress and opportunities. UNICEF reports that providing comprehensive menstrual hygiene education improves girls’ confidence, reduces stigma, and enhances overall well-being, leading to better school attendance and academic performance. The World Health Organization emphasizes the importance of educating girls about menstrual hygiene and related topics as part of broader efforts to promote gender equality, health equity, and social inclusion. By equipping girls with knowledge about their bodies and menstrual cycles, we empower them to lead healthier, more confident lives and contribute positively to their communities and societies.
