Today we are celebrating the five-year anniversary of presenting Briella and her family with a $20,000 wheelchair accessible vehicle grant! They were the 9th Giving Songs family. Briella’s parents have worked hard since her birth to show not only their older children, but also other families, that a diagnosis does not mean the adventures need to stop. The family loves to camp and to spend time outside. Additionally, they have founded Certain Hope Community to bring “Hope and Community to families raising kids with disabilities”. Here is what Briella’s dad, Andy, had to say not long after receiving the grant: “Only a special needs family truly understands the daily difficulties and struggle we go through. We are forever grateful... in an inaccessible world GIVING SONGS have given us the gift of accessibility!!” Together, we are CHANGING THE WORLD, ONE DRIVEWAY AT A TIME! givingsongs.org . . . . . #givingsongs #giving #givingback #philanthropy #charity #michigan #michigancharity #music #musicforcharity #michiganmusicians #wheelchairvangrants #wheelchair #wheelchairlife #wheelchairvan

About us
Giving Songs is a grassroots, all-volunteer 501(c)(3) that utilizes music to help Southeastern Michigan families with a disabled child who uses a wheelchair purchase wheelchair accessible vans. We have worked with close to 100 local musicians, releasing three compilation CDs (two general and one holiday) and multiple singles. In addition to physical CDs, the songs are available for streaming from all of the major sites and download from our website. The money raised from download donations, CD sales, other donations, grants and fundraisers has helped us award over $300,000 in vehicle grants to 26 families to date.

Today we celebrate the third of our three September grant anniversaries. Five years ago today we presented Moheyb and his parents with an $18,200 vehicle grant. They were our 8th Giving Songs family. Here is what Moheyb’s mother, Cafayeh, said after receiving their grant: "I would like to thank Giving Songs for the generous gift they have provided for my family. No words can express the way I feel when I see the van we received from Giving Songs. I am able to take my son to his appointments without being worried thank you Giving Songs." Fast forward five short years and we are now working with our 33rd family. Thank you so, so much for your continued support. Yesterday we celebrated the second of our three September grant anniversaries. Ten years ago we presented Tyler and his family with a $10,000 vehicle grant. They were our 2nd Giving Songs family. Here is what Tyler’s mom, Trish had to say not long after they received their grant: “We absolutely LOVE the new vehicle! Yesterday I was able to pick Tyler up from school, run some errands, and go to the grocery store – without any help, and without any back ache. Tyler loves sitting in the front as well…. Him sitting in the front must feel like an entirely new experience, he just giggles and giggles. I found myself just taking him for a ride a couple of times just to see him smile and hear his giggle.” Fast forward ten years and we are now working with our 33rd family. Thank you so, so much for your continued support. We have THREE grant anniversaries in the next 8 days. Today we are celebrating the nine-year anniversary of our $18,100 grant to Addisyn and her family. They were the 3rd Giving Songs family. Here is what Addi’s mom, Tracy, had to say about Giving Songs: “If anyone is looking for an organization to support.......I highly recommend Giving Songs. They provided us with a grant which helped to get our payment one we could afford for Addi’s handicap MV-1 Van! This was life changing for us.... I look back and think of how life was before our van and tears flow ........ I was so afraid I would drop Addisyn carrying her in and out of the van, through the snow ..... up the stairs...... She had outgrown her car seat.... being able to change her diaper on the go was almost impossible. This van gave me the freedom to care for my daughter independently. I can do it all by myself if need be. Can you imagine how good that feels..... Thank you to our dear friends..... The Johnsons ....I now consider family .....for their dedication to this cause. We love you all dearly...and will forever be grateful! Thank you Lord for always providing...... Blessed” Fast forward nine years and we are now working with our 33rd family. Meet William - the 32nd recipient of a Giving Songs wheelchair accessible vehicle grant. William, who will be 12 this Saturday, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This degenerative neuromuscular disease - for which there is no cure and few treatment options - is slowly taking away his motor functions. As it became more challenging for William to get into and out of vehicles, he was often choosing to stay home rather than attend events. This isolation is something we hear about a lot in grant applications and one of the major reasons Giving Songs exists. Everyone deserves the basic freedom of safe transportation so they can rejoin their community. Thanks to your incredible support, we were able to provide the family with a $7,000 wheelchair accessible vehicle grant. Here is what William's mother, Keyan, said after receiving the grant: "Our family is so thankful for the support from Giving Songs in purchasing a ramp van for our family. The ramp van not only enables our son to get to appointments and school, but also allows our family to go on outings together again. Prior to getting our ramp van, we had to limit outings to only necessary places because it was challenging to get him into and out of our vehicle safely. Now he is able to enter independently, which is extremely important for a growing 12-year-old boy. Our family looks forward to the many amazing adventures we will be able to take together!" Yesterday we celebrated the four-year anniversary of presenting Justin and his family with a $7,500 wheelchair accessible vehicle grant! They were our 12th Giving Songs family. Justin, now 11, has an extremely complex medical history, including multiple seizure disorders, cerebral palsy and brittle type 1 diabetes. He regularly has 5+ appointments a week - so a wheelchair accessible vehicle was critical as he gets bigger. Here is what Justin's guardians, Dawn and Randy, said just after the family received their grant: "Justin had therapy today and for the first time I took him AND got back home again without having to pick up his wheelchair! We LOVE LOVE LOVE his new van! THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS ... and our backs thank you too!" Today we are celebrating the three-year anniversary of our $15,000 grant to P-R and her family. They were the 15th Giving Songs family. Here is what P-R’s mother, Crystal, had to say after they received their grant. “We are so thankful to Giving Songs for helping us get the lift for our van. We found an amazing van but couldn’t afford to have it converted because of the payment on the vehicle! We were able to get it converted solely from the help of Giving Songs. This lift has been life changing. I no longer have to lift my 35 lb. daughter in and out of the car but also (and more importantly) her 100 lb. wheelchair! My back is already a little messed up from a car accident and with P-R only getting bigger it’s a relief to know at least one area of our lives was made more convenient. She sits SO comfortably in her wheelchair versus a car seat so we are extremely grateful for that! Giving Songs, we cannot thank you enough for the amazing gift for our family. A large family like ours cannot always afford everything simply. Thank you again for helping us keep P-R comfortable every moment of every day. The lift only furthers our strive for quality of life for our daughter. My back thanks you too!” Together, we are CHANGING THE WORLD, ONE DRIVEWAY AT A TIME! givingsongs.org . . . . . #givingsongs #giving #givingback #philanthropy #charity #michigan #michigancharity #music #musicforcharity #michiganmusicians #wheelchairvangrants #wheelchair #wheelchairlife #wheelchairvan

Meet Daniel - the 31st recipient of a Giving Songs wheelchair accessible vehicle grant. Abandoned as an infant, Daniel, now 16, entered foster care and was subsequently adopted by his foster mother. He suffers from life threatening seizures (Lennox Gastaut Syndrome); dysphasia; duplication of chromosome 17; PURA syndrome; and multiple developmental delays. Daniel is nonverbal, largely immoble and has constant respiratory issues. He is also g-tube dependent for feeding. Thanks to your incredible support, we were able to provide the family with a $10,000 wheelchair accessible vehicle grant. Here is what Daniel's mother, Jackie, said after taking delivery of their van: "Our family will be forever grateful to the non-profit organization, Giving Songs, for their generous financial support granted to help us purchase the handicap accessible van needed to transport my son. As a single mom with limited financial means raising a severely multiply impaired child, a safe, reliable form of transportation is needed when it comes to taking your child to doctors appointments, wanting to attend community events, and the desire to be with family during the holiday season but not having a handicap accessible van posed an array of challenges for us and limited what we could do outside of our home. So often, events were not attended because of our limitation to transport my son where he would be comfortable, safe, and with a level of privacy when it comes to his hygienic needs as a growing young man. We have been blessed by Giving Songs with the financial assistance to help me to purchase a handicap accessible van that meets our needs and our world has changed beyond belief. My son and I can now go everywhere, see everything, visit everyone and plan new adventures without the worry of thinking 'how do I get the wheelchair in the car'. Life has changed for both of us, the concern for my own personal physical injury for lifting him has dwindled, my son can experience new adventures and he now has a level of privacy when addressing his personal care but mostly, we now feel a part of our community, not being excluded but being included. Thank you for our blessing and helping to change our path-new memories to come and enjoy with lots of smiles." Today we are celebrating the two-year anniversary of our $10,000 vehicle grant to Remon, Jr. and his family. They were the 22nd recipients of a Giving Songs vehicle grant. Remon, now 5, has a primary medical diagnosis of G Protein Subunit Alpha O1 (GNAO1), a rare neurodevelopmental disorder that can cause seizures, abnormal movements and developmental delays. Additionally, his medical history includes poor muscle tone, dystonia, nystagmus, failure to thrive, dysphasia, astigmatism, chronic constipation, and GERD. Remon, who is nonverbal, cannot sit on his own or hold his head up on his own. He relies on a feeding tube to meet his nutritional needs. Here is what Remon’s mother, Yolonda, said after receiving their grant. “Our family is sincerely thankful for Giving Songs! My family will never be able to thank you enough for stepping in and helping with [a grant] to purchase an adapted van. “My husband, who had spine surgery, was unable to help me lift or transport our son's medically adapted stroller after I was in a car accident…. I struggled to get my son to his many medical appointments, but thanks to Giving Songs, our li[ves] have been forever changed and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Without this grant this could not have been possible. We are now able to get Remon, Jr. to his many appointments.” Together, we are CHANGING THE WORLD, ONE DRIVEWAY AT A TIME! givingsongs.org . . . . . #givingsongs #giving #givingback #philanthropy #charity #michigan #michigancharity #music #musicforcharity #michiganmusicians #wheelchairvangrants #wheelchair #wheelchairlife #wheelchairvan
