ICYMI, Glassdoor’s latest Employee Confidence Index is out and the future looks, well, uncertain. Our lead economist Daniel Zhao gets into the why in his post below 👇 What do you think of this data? Does it reflect how people feel in your industry? #worklife #jobs #uncertainty #future #economy #news #glassdoor #workforce #management #research
Employee confidence dropped to a record low in February, according to the latest data from the Glassdoor Employee Confidence Index. Just 44.4% of employees reported a positive 6-month business outlook for their employers, the lowest level since our data began in 2016. Why is worker sentiment sliding downward? One reason: Economic anxiety among workers is on the rise as economic uncertainty surges. In particular, workers are concerned about their job security: mentions of layoffs in Glassdoor reviews kept rising in February, increasing slightly by 0.3% month-over-month to the highest level since July 2020. Notably, many reviews about layoffs are not just about workers being laid off, but also from workers who survived layoffs are feeling stressed or overworked as a result. Additionally, the industries where employee confidence has dropped the most year-over-year are government & public administration (-7.3 percentage points) and aerospace & defense (-6.8pp). With the DOGE government cuts leading headlines, government workers and contractors are facing extreme uncertainty about their prospects in the near future. Ultimately, as economic uncertainty has gripped headlines in the last few weeks, it's no surprise that that uncertainty is quickly weighing on how workers feel about their employers. #economy #news
