It was a beautiful evening for our Annual Meeting this past Tuesday, where we shared Y stories of impact, highlighted the achievements of 2023, and celebrated our volunteers. Thank you to everyone who attended! Several volunteers received special recognition for their Y service: • Mike Archie - 2023 William Chapman Distinguished Volunteer Leadership Award • Chris Nelson - Key Leader Award, YMCA at Pabst Farms • Kendall Bocher - Key Leader Award, Watertown Area YMCA We want to thank our outgoing Board Chairs, Jarrod Thomas (Association Board of Directors), Sarah Sullivan (Watertown Board of Managers), and Jason Curtis (Pabst Farms Board of Managers) for their time and commitment; as well as Rob Marchant, who is coming off the Association Board after several years of service. The gavel was officially passed to Chris Sauvé, our new association Board Chair. A special thank you to Melody Pickens for joining us to share her story of how the Y has impacted her son Gage in our Early Education Center. Additionally, a special framed photo was presented to David Schroeder and Katie Schroeder for their commitment to the Y throughout the Capital Campaign to build a new YMCA in Watertown. Last week, we celebrated our Capital Campaign success so far for our new, Watertown Area YMCA - to be named the Tom and Mary Schultz Family YMCA. In addition to this exciting announcement for naming our our future Y, Jon Lange was elated to share the Watertown community's hard work on bringing in almost $2 million in the public portion of the campaign, exceeding its goal of $1.7 million. While there has been great success in the Building Communities Capital Campaign the work is not done. Equipping costs for the new facility and the addition of the aquatic center leave $5.5 million left to fund the entire project. We are continuously working to bring the community what it needs and deserves! Read the full article in the Watertown Daily Times below.

The new YMCA will beautifully recognize those who have been foundational in the growth, development and positive impact of the Watertown area. The "John David Free Weight Center" will do just that in honoring John David's enduring legacy in the community. The article below from the Watertown Daily Times articulates this great recognition and provides the progress of the Capital Campaign to build a new Watertown Area YMCA.

Two weeks ago, members of our team went to the North American YMCA Development Organization (NAYDO) conference in Denver, CO where they accepted the Philanthropic Communications Champion award. We received this recognition for our comprehensive campaign materials for the Watertown Area YMCA Capital and Annual Campaign. "The Glacial Community YMCA put two clear goals into one campaign: an Annual Campaign and a Capital Campaign. The design was graphically pleasing and presented both campaigns in one brochure. The Glacial Community YMCA created a volunteer package which showcased their communication excellence and clearly laid out how to ask for the gift. The campaign used the title line 'Building Communities Today and For the Next Generation' which paired nicely with the annual needs of today and the building needs of the next generation. The campaign had defined goals and timelines all planned out within a 12-month period. You can see by their materials that the prep work was done well in advance, keeping their volunteers engaged and informed throughout the entire process. The campaign is put together by the book and looks like any Y could use it as a template for a successful campaign in the future." We are immensely grateful for all who have influenced the success of our efforts and specifically this award. Our community phase of the Watertown Area YMCA's Capital Campaign is still underway. If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to Taylor Walsh and join the movement!
