About us
The AFS Global Competence Certificate is an innovative pre-departure on-program or at home course for study abroad, volunteering, internships, teaching, au pair, work and travel. Different versions of the GCC program meet the needs of: students, staff or faculty, high school teachers and professionals across a variety of disciplines from around the world whether or not they’ll have a study abroad experience. Designed to support learners participating in an international experience, the Global Competence Certificate builds their global competence; the knowledge, skills, and understanding we believe are needed to create a more just and peaceful world. The content, now available in 7 languages, is designed to meet key educational goals that help learners develop intercultural competence and deal with cultural adjustment. These goals are organized into four core areas: Self-awareness, Awareness about others, Emotional intelligence, and Bridges across difference. AFS Advances Virtual Exchange at IVEC 2024 The AFS Global Up Team recently participated in the International Virtual Exchange Consortium (IVEC) 2024 conference.
