In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we are proud to highlight Jesus Velazco, dedicated fleet mechanic with AMR Kansas City, who embodies the spirit of Hispanic culture and service within the EMS industry. Jesus has served AMR for a little more than a year, and he is a man of faith who has a deep passion for his family and his country. He developed a strong work ethic during his time with the Army, and he believes the EMS profession is where people become the backbone of America. “This is where someone’s future begins,” Jesus said. “I am a very proud, patriotic Hispanic person. I love Hispanic Heritage Month because it allows me to reflect and analyze my roots and culture.” Jesus loves to let his work speak for itself, allowing his actions to reflect his passion and personality. He also enjoys paying it forward by training new hires on how to service and maintain vehicles. Thank you, Jesus, for bringing diverse perspectives and dedication to the field of EMS. We are thankful for all you do! #OneTeam #HispanicHeritageMonth2024

GMR continues its extensive emergency medical services deployment in the Southeast as Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee begin recovering from the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, which made landfall on September 27 as a Category 4 hurricane. Through the response for FEMA, health systems and individual states, we deployed nearly 2,000 personnel and over 600 vehicles, including ambulances and air ambulances, to support recovery efforts in Florida, North Carolina, and other southeastern states after Hurricane Helene. GMR teams remain actively engaged, providing critical medical aid, evacuating patients and bolstering 911 services. With operations based out of Greenville, SC, we remain alert as another potential storm forms in the Gulf of Mexico, staying committed to the health and safety of affected communities. We would like to extend our thanks to our incredible GMR teams who are deployed. We are proud of your commitment to keeping our communities safe. Stay safe and thank you for your tireless efforts! #OneTeam #HurricaneHelene https://ow.ly/Qy0k50TAFYs FEMA

Today, we recognize the 19th anniversary of the Global Medical Response (GMR) Employee Foundation. In 2023, the Foundation provided more than $570,000 to more than 220 GMR family members who faced catastrophic events, such as property loss, the death of an employee or family member, or debilitating illness. We are proud of the work the GMR Employee Foundation has done over the years, and we remain committed to supporting our employees in any way we can. In light of the devastation Hurricane Helene has left in its path across the Southeast, our thoughts are with our team members and the communities impacted by the storm. For our team members who have faced loss due to the storm, the GMR Employee Foundation is here to assist you. To request assistance during this time, please visit https://ow.ly/BlBn50Tyajy. If you were not directly impacted and want to help, please consider a donation to the Foundation.

As Hurricane Helene approaches the Gulf Coast, GMR has mobilized its disaster response teams to assist communities across the Southeastern U.S. expected to be impacted by the storm. As part of AMR’s FEMA contract, as well as the State of Florida and impacted health systems, GMR has deployed ground and air ambulance units, highly trained medical personnel, and advanced life-support resources to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the hurricane’s projected path. “As part of our commitment to disaster preparedness, GMR has stationed response teams in strategic locations ahead of the storm’s arrival to ensure rapid mobilization when needed. We are closely monitoring weather conditions and is in regular contact with local emergency management agencies to provide timely support.” – Ted Van Horne, GMR Chief Operating Officer For those in Helene’s path, please heed all warnings and instructions of local authorities. Thank you to the brave first responders who have stepped forward to provide care #AtAMomentsNotice. https://ow.ly/SKEw50TwnV8

We are proud of the significant impact Professional Development Manager Mandy Gainey is making in her community as a Critical Care Transport Academy (CCTA) mentor! As a model of empowerment, her ability to expand the knowledge of her peers is truly inspiring. Mandy embodies the spirit of teamwork and service that defines the EMS industry, and we are proud to have her as part of our GMR family. #OneTeam

Meet Critical Care Transport Academy (CCTA) mentor, Mandy Gainey! 🚁 Why do you fly? For me, I love practicing emergency medicine and critical care. Flying allowed me to do both, while being outside the four walls of a hospital. 👥 Why do you participate as a mentor with CCTA? One of my favorite things is watching someone grasp a new concept or skill. Being a mentor gives me the opportunity to come along side other clinicians that are excited to expand their knowledge base. I find that eagerness inspiring. I also love the friendships that I've built with other mentors across different companies, industries, and organizations. 🎓 Why should an employer hire a CCTA graduate? What makes them stand out? The graduates of the CCTA program show unprecedented determination to increase their skills and knowledge base. We have high expectations for our students that include hours of study, zoom calls, and in person conferences with simulations. Our goal is that each of our graduates not only find careers in the transport industry, but that they flourish as a crew members in their prospective organizations. Curious? Learn more about the CCTA here: https://lnkd.in/dy-xFmYM
