GO provides year-round educational and family support services to academically struggling NYC children & their families.

About us

The GO Project is a non-profit organization that shapes the futures of 725 New York City public school children by providing critical academic, social and emotional support starting in the early elementary years. GO provides year-round educational and family support services to children who are performing below grade level and equips them with the confidence and skills needed to succeed at school, at home and in life. The GO Project addresses the needs of our students through three reinforcing strands of service – GO Summer, GO School, and GO Families. GO Summer is a rigorous five-week full day academic and enrichment program led by a staff of certified teachers. All students continue on with GO School, a focused, seven-month Saturday program from October-April, with students participating in a half-day of academic skill-building. GO Families is a year-round social service program designed to empower parents of participants to create positive learning environments at home and school through proactively addressing various student learning and behavioral challenges. GO Families is integrated into all GO programs and supports parents in becoming constructive advocates for their child. In addition, for students facing the most significant academic challenges and for those that have been identified as “promotion in doubt,” we offer GO Fun, an extended tutoring program on Saturday between February and April.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this, Fabled Films & Fabled Films Press LLC! We’re incredibly grateful for your partnership. Your tips are invaluable, and we love giving our GO families the opportunity to be part of these meaningful conversations about literacy in multilingual homes.

The Nocturnals author Tracey Hecht and Fabled Films publisher Stacey Ashton returned to GO Project NYC last weekend. We spent an amazing morning with parents and caregivers discussing the importance of reading aloud together in multilingual homes, and sharing tips to make fiction and nonfiction storytime engaging. Check out some of Tracey's tips below! 1. Read Everywhere! Books, signs, menus, ads. Translate for each other. 2. Use Post-its in Your Home. Label things in English and your home language. Quiz each other. 3. Play Games. Play I See on the subway or while walking using both English and your home language to describe what you see. 4. Take Turns Reading Aloud. Switch-off with your kids, each reading one sentence or phrase, and translate together. 5. Read Your Interests. Find articles on video games, futbol, pop stars, food. Translate them online and read in both languages. 6. Make a book of My Life, My Family. Write down the wonderful stories about who you are, where you are from, recipes, pets, traditions. #EducationMatters #EquityinEducation #Literacy #FamilyLiteracy #NocturnalsWorld #GOProject A huge thanks to Scarlett Tang, Jade Elias, and Gayle Villani for helping this awesome event come together. 🫶
