With Election Day just days away, we imagine you are thinking, as we are—a lot—about what is at stake. And the first word that comes to mind for us is, indeed, the theme of the film we created this summer for the Democratic National Convention: freedom. We were deeply honored to produce “American Family | A Film About Freedom,” co-directed by renowned photographer Platon and GDP CEO Scott Dadich. In the film, everyday Americans talk about what the word “freedom” means to them: choice, respect, safety, education, autonomy. We were moved by the response to the film from Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign Instagram, which implored followers: “You have to watch this.” If you haven’t yet, please do so. And more importantly, if you haven’t voted yet, now is your last chance to make a plan. At the GDP studios, we have long decided as a company to take Election Day as a paid GDP holiday—our studios are closed. We encourage our staff to use the day to get out and vote, make calls, remind family and friends to vote, and be in service of others. It’s not just our right—it’s our duty. And we’re grateful for it. #AmericanFamily #Freedom #Democracy #vote #teamgdp https://lnkd.in/gtvhMxrm

When the Democratic National Convention enlisted us to create a film on the theme of freedom, our goal was to pay tribute to the countless ways in which that word animates our lives—how we dream, how we hope, and how we strive to live as Americans. We had less than two weeks to cast, film, and complete the project, so our team of journalists and producers knew they’d have to lean into their experience in newsrooms, where telling true stories on tight deadlines is a daily assignment. The result, “American Family | A Film About Freedom,” was directed by renowned photographer Platon and the CEO of Godfrey Dadich Partners, Scott Dadich. The film—which aired before the powerful remarks of Oprah Winfrey—features Americans from every walk of life who reveal, in their own words, the diversity and richness of our nation, showing that freedom is not just a concept. It’s a reality we all live, cherish, and fight for every day. We plan to share more about how the project came to be, and some behind-the-scenes lessons we learned in the process, in the coming days. But for now, we wanted to share the film with you. We hope you see yourself in this film because it’s truly a reflection of America—of all of us.  https://lnkd.in/gPaZVcvf #AmericanFamily #DNC #Freedom #Democracy #teamGDP

And that’s a wrap on season 6 of WorkLab, the podcast from Microsoft about the future of work! GDP and Microsoft launched WorkLab in 2021, and in the six seasons since, we’ve learned an enormous amount from our guests. Here are our three takeaways from the sixth season—which focuses on how to build an AI-powered organization—from journalist Charles Duhigg, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet, and Microsoft’s CVP of Business Apps and Platforms Charles Lamanna. We hope you’ll tune in to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts to hear more. Communication skills are becoming more important every day in our new world of work. “We’re already seeing more and more emphasis on communication ability as something that employers are looking for when they’re hiring,” Duhigg says, whose latest book, “Supercommunicators” reveals the secrets behind what makes a conversation work and how to connect with anyone, at work or otherwise. “The ability to get along well with others is critical to the success of teams and to individuals.” And that isn’t just a skill that’s helpful in interpersonal situations: “Communication is a technical skill in addition to a human skill. The ability to show during an interview that you can communicate and connect well with others is going to tell that interviewer something about how you also interact with technology, and that’s going to be powerful.” We’re in a “PC moment,” says Sweet, who’s leading more than 730,000 employees around the world through AI transformation. Generative AI’s impact on individual productivity is akin to how the personal computer took us away from typewriters entirely. “It really is a rewiring of the way we work.” For business leaders, though, there is a bigger opportunity: reinventing business processes. “In the past 30 years, there is no single technology except for AI that I have been able to stand up in front of CEOs and credibly and authentically say that it will have a material positive impact on every part of their enterprise,” she says. Today, people interact with generative AI mostly on a one-to-one basis. But Lamanna, who works on some of Microsoft’s most exciting products, explains how new capabilities in Microsoft Copilot move AI beyond being just a personal assistant to acting on behalf of a team, a department, or an entire company and automating business processes. One big benefit for business leaders is to liberate people and teams from monotonous tasks so they can focus on what humans are good at: “collaborating, creating ideas, long-term planning—AI will be able to take work that you give it and finish it for you, going the last mile in the background.” For more season 6 highlights, read here: https://lnkd.in/gBW7rE7Q #teamgodfreydadich #teamgdp #worklab #discovernewpodcasts #clientwork

How many of us have been tempted to believe that, thanks to AI, our jobs don’t require as much effort as they once did? When it comes to everyday tasks like email and meeting notes, that may be true. But the deep work that any brand must do to craft a story that connects takes just as much effort and skill as ever—maybe even more. In the latest issue of GDP’s newsletter, Story Is Everything, Head of Editorial Marcus Wohlsen argues that the AI era raises the bar on craft, but in a wonderful way: not because AI automates away the work, but because you now have a tool you can teach. Check it out, tell us what you think, and if you like what you see, consider subscribing! #story #storyiseverything #gdp #godfreydadichpartners #strategy #brandstrategy #aiatwork #ai #genai
