We are 3️⃣5️⃣ days away from #NASIDconf24! Join the National Alliance to Stop Impaired Driving (NASID) as experts and the traffic safety community gather together to discuss the challenges and intricacies around impaired driving, and how it takes us all to make American roadways safer.

Join us tomorrow, October 9, at 1 p.m. EST for the Reducing Impaired Driving with Risk Terrain Modeling and Proactive Alliance Relationship-Based Policing webinar hosted by Responsibility.org! The webinar will be moderated by Darrin T Grondel Ed.D. and is open to anyone working to reduce impaired driving in their community. https://lnkd.in/eC3pBX4M Dr. Joel M. Caplan and I will be discussing innovative approaches for assessing and managing the problems of drunk and drugged driving and strategic ways to develop collaborative problem-solving with stakeholders. Attendees will learn about Risk Terrain Modeling (RTM) and how this groundbreaking technology diagnoses environmental conditions that can lead to more effective investigations, community engagement, and prevention that will make our roads—and the drivers on them—safer. They will also introduce the Proactive Alliance (PA) relationship-based approach and how its principles of counseling psychology empower police and municipal agencies to establish long-term working relationships with stakeholders. Today we held a fall Lunch & Learn for staff and friends of Responsibility.org, centered around how adults can be ambassadors of responsibility for kids and teens. Our staff highlighted resources designed to help trusted adults communicate with kids such as the "I Know Everything" campaign, #WeDontServeTeens initiative and Ask, Listen, Learn program. A big thank you to Rick Birt, Director of the D.C. Highway Safety Office and longtime responsibility advocate, for sharing specific ways adults can begin conversations with teens, including setting aside specific times for open and honest conversations, sharing the value of inclusion and the power it takes to speak up in social situations. Today, our own Leslie Kimball joined #Maryland highway safety advocates and partners to commemorate that #NoahsLaw will fully go into effect tomorrow - Oct 1st. After years of staunch advocacy alongside our strong coalition, we are thrilled to see the loophole closed and #MD roadways made safer for all.   Drunk driving is a choice, and the injuries and fatalities that follow are 100% preventable. In 2022, Maryland's Ignition Interlock Program prevented 3,650 attempts to start or operate a vehicle where the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit. Interlocks are one of the most effective countermeasures to stop #DrunkDriving. #EndImpairedDriving
