The GoFundMe community has rallied to lift up the people across the Southeast who were impacted by this historic storm, raising over $5 million in just four days. But this work is just beginning. Our teams will continue to verify fundraisers as they come in and work promptly to get those funds out the door, as we work to supply fuel for helicopters bringing much-needed supplies to the towns around Asheville, fund repairs for the farms that saw their fall bounties washed away, and to help those who lost nearly everything as they begin to rebuild. If you need immediate funds to begin your own recovery journey or know someone who needs a hand getting started, visit https://lnkd.in/ejNEZtyd  to get started with a fundraiser today. If you'd like to help, visit https://lnkd.in/eupBq8gd to donate to GoFundMe.org's general Hurricane Relief fund, and we'll take care of the rest. This fund, which has already started granting out to those impacted by Hurricane Helene, is providing immediate relief grants through GoFundMe.org to people seeking help through verified GoFundMe fundraisers, and to nonprofit organizations on the ground providing relief.

The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane #Helene is forecasted to make landfall in Florida today as a catastrophic Category 4 storm. Helene’s storm surge is predicted to be up to 20 feet along some parts of the coast. We know the devastation that awaits homes and property that lie in the path of a storm of this magnitude. That’s why we’re asking for your support as we prepare to help people in Florida and Georgia recover from what may be the strongest hurricane to hit the United States in over a year. Every $550 raised into GoFundMe.org's Hurricane Relief Fund represents a grant that will go directly to someone impacted and seeking help by fundraising for food, water, clothes, shelter and more in the wake of a hurricane. Every dollar raised, minus a transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per donation, goes to fund these grants. This fund was created to provide direct relief to people in need after a hurricane. Your donation will ensure this fund can support as many people as possible as soon as a disaster strikes. GoFundMe.org sends critical cash grants directly to people who need help within 24 hours following a hurricane. You can help by simply sharing this post to your networks, or giving generously to this fund: https://gfme.co/3zHEUkL

Teamwork to help others 👏 The GoFundMe and Classy teams throughout the country got together in various cities last week to join Feeding America in taking action against hunger in our communities. It was part of Feeding America's efforts around Hunger Action Month. A huge thank you to Feeding America for always leading the way on this important issue. Every action―big or small―is one step closer to an America where no one is hungry. That's something we can all get behind. 📸 Check out our incredible teams in action!

Always trying to do my part, to do good.

Every year, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Legislative Conference brings together incredible people, who are united in purpose and power. To celebrate these leaders and their stories, GoFundMe joined forces with Everytown for Gun Safety, Universal Music Group, 1063 West Broad, and The Values Partnership to present "AGENTS OF CHANGE". We kicked off the morning with remarks by Congresswoman Robin Kelly, Congressman Gabe Amo and Virginia Speaker Don Scott. They spoke from the heart, calling people in to the vital work ahead. They asked for our help! I was then joined by Dr. Menna D., Executive Director of UMG’s Task Forcefor Meaningful Change, and Angela F., Executive Director of Moms Demand Action for a panel conversation; and the ever-inspiring Brittany Packnett Cunningham moderated. We each spoke about about our work and affiliations, shared our raison d'etres as agents of change ourselves, and connected on the power of story to move people to action. We closed the conversation with our wishes (thanks Zephanii S. for the question). We wished for equity, for representation, for action, for justice, and for freedom! Lucky us, Alencia Johnson was our emcee. No one does it better than that one. I hope what people took away from this special event is that people power is the best power. That’s why asking for help should be encouraged (and never criticized or stigmatized). #soapbox I'll be riding this wave of joy and hope for the foreseeable future. Thank you again to our partner organizations, to our elected leaders and speakers, and to the nearly 100 people that showed up (fly as hell too!) at 9am this morning. We are all agents of change! And of help, and hope too. 🫶🏽

Help Delivered from our partners at GoFundMe.org 💚 This quote comes from someone who received a grant from GoFundMe.org’s Essentials Fund, established to help people pay for basic necessities like food, housing and clothes. This fund is one of many that helps GoFundMe.org quickly mobilize and distribute donations for individuals and communities impacted by crises, natural disasters, and social inequalities. We’re proud to support GoFundMe.org and celebrate another year of impactful work, which you can read all about in the Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Report: https://gfme.co/47d9teH Since 2017, GoFundMe.org has worked with partners and organizations to raise over $166 million across more than 200 funds, delivering 24,000+ grants. Together, with GoFundMe.org and many generous donors, we can show up for people when they need us most and let them know they are not alone.

On the road in support of caregivers 🚌 GoFundMe was a proud presenting partner of the #CareCantWait bus tour, when Caring Across Generations took their mission on a cross-country trip, spreading awareness about how to make caregiving accessible and affordable for all. Kelsea Little, from the GoFundMe Community Engagement team, shared what it was like to be on the 9-city trip: “It was incredibly moving to see so many passionate people come together at every stop along this tour to share their personal care stories, and to spread the message that care is essential. We are so proud that GoFundMe is a place where caregivers can ask for the help they need, and are equally honored to support organizations like Caring Across Generations who are working to make nationwide change.” The trip is over but the work is not. You can continue to support Caring Across Generations on GoFundMe: https://gfme.co/3XfAHO #caregivers #caregiving #caregiversupport #caregivercommunity #careontour
