On our 5th anniversary, we’re honored to have our impact and next phase of culture-defining work in Vanity Fair! 5 years ago, Gold House began our culture-shaping work with the debut of Crazy Rich Asians, convening the community behind the first-ever #GoldOpen with Director Jon M. Chu and his cast. The film broke records and began a groundswell of excitement and investment in Asian Pacific stories that led to this year’s historic Academy Awards. Since Day 1, a lean but mighty co-founding team of passionate volunteers has invested thousands of hours connecting with hundreds of leaders while building our now history-making ventures including: - Co-Founders Kevin Lin, Janet Yang, Patrick Lee, Maggie Hsu, Sanjay Sharma, Kevin Nishimura, James Roh, Kirby Lee, Jeremy T., and Bing Chen - The first program directors Megan Ruan, Mikkoh Chen, Yao King, Kaylyn Shibata, Cindy Joung, Laura Choi, Ben Chu, CPA, Chiharu Iijima, James Kuk, Josh Jun, and Christopher Au and their 100-person global Fellowship army - The next Board Directors once we incorporated as a nonprofit including Prabal Gurung, Michelle Lee, and Daniel Dae Kim; and our newest Directors Agnes Chu and Helen Lin - And long-standing collaborations with Eric Feng, Nina Yang Bongiovi, Susie Nam, Michelle Tang, Christina Chou, Sheri Bryant, and Tim Chang Now, with a full time team, Gold House has built the leading cultural ecosystem focused on “equitable excellence”: identifying the people, projects, and platforms that impact and reach the most communities while empowering them to foster expansive socioeconomic change. Alongside key leaders and allies, we unite, invest in, and champion Asian Pacific creators and companies through innovative programs and platforms that guarantee commercial viability for cultural imperatives. We work with artists and every major media company to reshape public narratives; partner with global companies and investors to redefine existing power structures; and unite our community in celebration and excellence to reimagine possibilities. Now, we begin our next phase, Gold Bridge, to better connect industries, multicultural communities, and continents. Thank you to everyone committed to building a tomorrow for all! 🔗: goldhouse.org/vanityfair 📷: Daniel Seung Lee

Gold House hosted a panel on A Filmmaker’s Creative & Financing Journey at Sundance Asia, celebrating Lloyd Lee Choi and Nina Yang Bongiovi to celebrate his feature film debut, Lucky Lu, which starts filming this fall. Moderated by Jazz Tangcay and featuring our own Bing Chen (CEO) and Christine Yi (GP, Creative Equity Fund), we explored how one can make his dream film in 2024. As a Gold House Futures Film Fellow, Lloyd created his award-winning short Closing Dynasty with our 2023 program in partnership with Netflix and Tribeca Studios. His most recent film, Same Old, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the Palme d’Or competition and also screened at TIFF, New York Film Festival and Raindance, where it won Best Short. Championing his growth and discussing the filmmaking journey with him was a highlight. Our deepest gratitude to our panelists, filmmakers, delegates, and the Sundance team for such a dynamic week in Taipei!

Yesterday, Fei Ma, the founder of Beta University sat down with Megan Ruan from Gold House Ventures to discuss some essential topics related to startup #growth, #fundraising, and navigating the #venturecapital landscape. Here are the 5 key takeaways 🏆: 💡Tailor Your Pitch for Different Audiences When pitching, adjust your message based on the audience's technical or non—technical background. Understanding what your listener values is key to delivering an effective pitch. 💡Balance Conviction and Humility Successful founders have strong beliefs in their ideas but are also open to feedback. They gather consistent input from multiple investors before adjusting their strategy or pitch. 💡Importance of Relationships in Venture Capital Venture capital is about relationships, especially in niche communities like underrepresented founders. Building strong connections can help founders stand out in a competitive market. 💡Navigating the Venture Landscape Early-stage venture capital is no longer about information asymmetry. Investors now compete on relationships and value beyond funding, so founders should seek investors who offer strategic benefits. 💡Staying in Touch with Investors Even if investors pass, staying connected and providing updates can open doors later. If they passed due to being "too early," regular updates on traction, users, and revenue growth can spark future interest. 🚀 If you are exploring ideas or seeking fundraising, the Beta 6-week pre-acceleration program is here to support early-stage first-time founders to raise the first $1M check: https://lnkd.in/gxZfAFim #Startups #Entrepreneurship #Community #Fundraising #InvestorRelations #Technology #Innovation

With the 2024 #Paralympics underway this week and Team USA still riding a high on the brilliance of the athletes at the 2024 Olympics, it's the perfect time to reflect on Asian Pacific representation in marketing around global sports events such as these. Gold House Member Michelle Tang, Global Chief Growth Officer at McCann, published an important and insightful op-ed in Adweek on AAPI representation in advertising around the Olympics — specifically contrasting the few AAPI athletes featured in advertisements to the numerous AAPI athletes featured in competition. Though several organizations, including Team USA led by Jess Park, SVP of Fan Engagement, have gone above and beyond to ensure diverse narratives at the Olympics and beyond, Tang's piece provides a critical call to action to the rest of the advertising and marketing industry to join in. Thank you to Michelle Tang for shedding light on this story, and Will Lee and Ryan Joe at Adweek for powerfully platforming this piece. Read the full op-ed at the link below: https://bit.ly/3T9olEO
