In mid-September, Goodfellow Bros.' Big Island region was a proud sponsor of the Ka'u Coffee Trail Run supporting ʻO Kaʻū Kākou, a volunteer-run nonprofit uplifting the community through scholarships, senior housing, and more. With 5K, 10K, half-marathon, and 50K races through breathtaking Hawaiian farmland, GBI teams from Maui and Big Island participated, including race director and GBI foreman Nick Muragin, who took 1st place in the 5K! 🏆 A huge thanks to all who volunteered and competed. As a sponsor of this event for the past several years, we're honored to support OKK's incredible work. #GBIGoodDeeds

At this year’s annual American Public Works Association (APWA) Awards, held at the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, Goodfellow Bros. was honored to receive the Project of the Year Award for our emergency road repair on “A Street” in California’s Castro Valley. Accepting the award on behalf of Goodfellow Bros. was project superintendent Tim Plowman. “GBI’s relationship-based business model is tailor-made for this type of project,” said Plowman. “You can see that commitment in our crew’s ability and willingness to safely go above and beyond what’s needed to successfully complete this project. You can also see it in the trust and respect between Goodfellow Bros. and Alameda County.” Read the full article in our Newsroom: https://lnkd.in/gDAs2rJQ #PWX2024 #GoodfellowBros #AlamedaCountyPublicWorks #CaliforniaContractors #ContractorOfChoice

“To be honest, I'd never have thought that I’d have a career in the construction industry as a Project Engineer. GBI created that opportunity for me. My passions and interests have always been oriented around business, which led to me receiving a degree in Business Management. When I graduated from college three years ago, my plan was to return home to the Big Island and start a career in land development. Three weeks after returning home, I was extremely fortunate to start an internship with GBI’s Big Island Region. When I started, I openly expressed that I wanted to achieve a better understanding of civil construction to accommodate my goal of becoming a developer. Knowing this, GBI focused my internship around estimating and provided resources to assist me with my original plan. Fortunately, plans can change. On the first day of my internship, I realized GBI was a special company. As my internship progressed, I found myself enjoying the work I was doing and really started to appreciate the opportunity that GBI had created for me. Coming from a business background, with continuous exposure to companies that advertise themselves as organizations that ʻvalue their employees’ and say ʻtheir company is like a family.’ From my experience, these companies typically articulate this concept without actually meaning it. As time progressed, it became clear that GBI does not fall into this category. At its core, GBI is truly a family company with an exceptional culture and genuinely good people. Looking back, the original reason I wanted to be a developer was to have a career that would benefit, impact, and give back to the community in a positive way. The more time I spent with GBI, I realized that I could still achieve those goals with this company. Today, when I reflect on the past three years, I tend to describe my experience with GBI as an ‘overdose of good fortune.’ My name is John Bergin, Project Engineer for the Big Island Region… and I am proud to be a part of the Goodfellow family.” #WeAreGBI #GoodfellowBros #ContractorOfChoice #GBIHawaii
