Empowering Independents to transform civic leadership – 3,444 winners elected by 40M voters

About us

GoodParty.org is empowering Independents to run, win, and serve so we can transform civic leadership. In 2024, we helped elect 3,444 Independent candidates into local offices across 48 states. Why? Americans – especially young people – have been losing faith in democracy. The rigged, two-party system has turned “Independent” into a dirty word. Voters are trapped between choosing the lesser of two evils or sitting out elections altogether. A majority of eligible voters (over 130M Americans), including more than half of Millennials and Gen Z, say that neither Republicans nor Democrats represent them. But they keep getting re-elected! Whether you’re concerned about healthcare costs, wars, the environment, our individual freedoms, or inequality, many great solutions are held back by the dark doom loop of dysfunctional partisan politics. With over 500,000 elected offices in the United States—70% of which are uncontested—GoodParty.org is powering the movement to reclaim our communities from career politicians. Together, we’re building a truly representative democracy where society’s biggest problems are solved. How? GoodParty.org empowers independents to run, win, and serve in public office without the influence of partisan or big-money support. Through our free, AI-powered tools, we enable independent candidates to prioritize people over parties and community over corporate funding, transforming real people into civic heroes. We’re a platform, not a political party. And, it’s working! Starting with 11 wins in the 2023 election cycle, GoodParty.org beat expectations in 2024 – 3,444 candidates won and are serving in office across 48 states! 40.3 million voters cast a ballot for our 6,317 candidates. Our general election win rate was 54.5%. Good Party is founded by serial entrepreneur, Farhad Mohit, with over $1B in exits — Flipagram (now TikTok), Shopzilla, and BizRate. Louisiana’s election system is facing a big shift. Starting in 2026, closed primaries will replace the state’s nonpartisan model for key races like Congress and the state supreme court. Yet, a JMC Analytics poll shows over 70% of voters—across party lines—favor the current open system, where all voters and candidates participate equally. Open elections matter, especially for Independents (a third of the state), who deserve to participate in local races that shape their communities. Closed primaries lock them out of taxpayer-funded nominee selection, prioritizing party power over public voice. Governor Jeff Landry fast-tracked this change in 2024, but only 34% of voters even know it’s coming. Louisiana tried partisan primaries in 2008 and reverted after backlash—will it again? • Local elections matter—yet most voters sit them out. While presidential elections see turnout around 60%, many local races struggle to reach even 20%. That means a small, often unrepresentative slice of the community is making big decisions on schools, policing, housing, and more. Some scholars are proposing moving local elections to even years when turnout is naturally higher. Cities that have made the switch, like Los Angeles and Baltimore, have seen participation double or even triple, leading to more representative leadership and policies that better reflect the entire community. At GoodParty.org, we believe that better democracy starts locally. What’s one change you think would boost voter turnout in local elections? 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/e9YGda2A

Dan Osborn's remarkable 2024 Senate campaign in Nebraska showcased the power of working-class leadership. As a former union president and strike leader, Osborn ran as an Independent and came within 7 percentage points of unseating an incumbent in a traditionally Republican stronghold. His campaign's success underscores the potential for blue-collar candidates to resonate with voters across party lines. Now, through the Working Class Heroes Fund, Osborn is dedicated to empowering more working-class Independents to run for public office, ensuring our political system truly represents all Americans. • Connecticut is poised to modernize its elections with a well-reasoned, bipartisan proposal to introduce Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in certain races. A diverse, bipartisan working group spent the past year carefully studying RCV, engaging with election officials, party leaders, and voters to ensure a pragmatic and measured approach. Their recommendations? A flexible, locally driven pathway for RCV in presidential primaries, party primaries, and municipal elections—not a mandate, but an opportunity. Why does this matter? ✔️ RCV ensures majority support in elections, preventing winners with small pluralities. ✔️ It reduces wasted votes in presidential primaries, ensuring all ballots count—even if candidates drop out. ✔️ It encourages more positive, issue-based campaigning and greater voter engagement. Now, it’s up to Connecticut lawmakers to act. The Government Administration & Elections Committee is considering legislation based on the Working Group’s recommendations. A public hearing is scheduled—will Connecticut take the next step in strengthening its democracy? https://lnkd.in/eCPpNZMp

  • Women have been at the forefront of political change for centuries—but they’re still vastly underrepresented in government. Despite making up 50.5% of the U.S. population, women hold just 28.2% of Congressional seats in 2025. That’s progress, but it’s not parity. 📌 From suffragists demanding the right to vote to Independent women running for office today, history shows us one thing: when women lead, society moves forward. How do we close the gap and ensure women’s voices are fully represented in government? Our latest blog explores: ✔️ The history of women’s political leadership ✔️ How women’s leadership drives social change ✔️ What’s still standing in the way—and how we fix it 📖 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eBznPitp

  • Why 2025 Could Be the Year Independent Candidates Take Center Stage The ground is shifting in American politics, and it’s not just about frustration with the two-party system. Independent candidates swept key races in 2024, proving voters aren’t just rejecting the status quo—they’re choosing leaders who actually do the job. The numbers back it up: Gallup polls show 63% of Americans want a third option—not out of spite, but because Independents bring results. These aren’t protest votes against Democrats and Republicans; they’re leaning on candidates who cut through the noise with practical solutions—tackle housing costs, boost education, or strengthen local economies—without party baggage holding them back. Voters are signaling loud and clear: action matters. 2025 could redefine leadership from the ground up. Running as an Independent isn’t about fame or fortune but vision and grit. For years, we’ve watched good folks—problem-solvers, not careerists—sidestep public service because the game seemed stacked. But 2024 cracked that myth wide open. Independents can win, and they’re paving the way for more to step up—on school boards, city halls, and even state legislatures. This isn’t a fleeting trend; it’s a wake-up call. Whether you’re itching to run, eager to back a fresh voice, or tired of the same old playbook, 2025 is your shot. #RunForOffice #PoliticalChange #IndependentMomentum
