52 Weeks of Goodwill, Week 30: We are so grateful for the support from our local community! Earlier this month, Goodwill partnered with a local Shop 'n Save to deliver over $1,000 worth of groceries and other essential items to the participants in our housing programs. This tremendous amount of goods will help alleviate food insecurity and allow our housing participants to focus on the next step in regaining stability. Goodwill's Housing programs are dedicated to helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness move into permanent housing. Last year, 100% of our participants exited the program with health insurance! Recently, we welcomed a group of volunteers from the Community Care Club at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) to Northside Common Ministries. While at NCM, they worked in the Northside Food Pantry organizing, packing, and serving food to individuals in our local community. Alexis (left), a student from CCAC and Jennifer (right), a French teacher from Taylor Alderdice were two of our helpful volunteers who came out that day. Goodwill and our affiliate Northside Common Ministries are grateful for the commitment, kindness, and empathy of our volunteers. 52 Weeks of Goodwill, Week 27: Meet Adam, a Goodwill team member who was just awarded the 2024 UniqueSource Achievement Award! Adam came to Goodwill in 2019 as a participant in our toner cartridge recycling and remanufacturing department and then transitioned to a day porter at the County Assistance Office in Fayette County. In 2021, Adam was hired as a janitorial specialist at Goodwill! Each year, UniqueSource, a partner of Goodwill, recognizes workers throughout Pennsylvania who demonstrate exceptional character in living and coping with disabilities, especially in the workplace. This year, Adam was among 38 individuals celebrated for exemplary determination, passion, and success! After caring for his mother, Adam is happy to return to the workforce. He says his job helps him get up in the morning and feel accomplished. In his spare time, Adam spends time with his three daughters and often enters car shows with two of them.
