Since 1967, Goodwill’s Visions program has been empowering adults with developmental disabilities and cognitive impairments to achieve long-term, integrated employment. Through personalized, one-on-one support, participants receive guidance with job applications, interviews, paperwork, scheduling, and on-the-job training. Visions staff also connect participants with essential community resources to help foster independence and success in the workplace.

Earlier this month, our Achieve team had the privilege of speaking at the Goodwill Mission Optimization Learning Event (MOLÉ) conference to speak on Self-Care for the Workforce Development Professional. The 90-minute presentation shared specific techniques and tools to implement for workforce development professionals seeking to practice and share better self-care habits. Our Achieve team works with job seekers of diverse skills, experiences, backgrounds, and ages to provide comprehensive, participant-centered programming and support. In addition to lessons focused on employability skills, individualized goal setting, and resource connections, we also emphasize self-care practices that participants can carry into their workplaces as they secure employment.

We are excited to announce the new Board of Directors leadership appointments for Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids. - Scott Chaudoir has been named Chair of the Board of Directors. Scott has been a dedicated member of our Board since 2016, offering invaluable insights as part of our Executive and Finance Committee. - Elizabeth Wilson will now serve as Vice Chair of the Board. Elizabeth joined the Board in 2021 and has played a crucial role in advancing our mission through her expertise in sales and client relations. - Debbie Lockwood has been appointed Secretary of the Board. A member since 2022, Debbie’s deep experience in human resources will strengthen our governance and organizational success. Each of these leaders brings a unique perspective and a shared passion for furthering our mission of changing lives and communities through the power of work.
