Goodwill is one of only 19 national nonprofit organizations authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor to administer the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) to provide training and support to older workers. Through SCSEP, participants receive paid training through part-time, service-oriented positions in their communities. The program aims to promote community service while helping participants achieve fiscal self-sufficiency. Over the last year, Goodwill's SCSEP efforts have helped more than 2,800 older adults in local communities. Participants in the program have contributed nearly 1.2 million hours of service to nonprofit organizations and other entities.

Our Goodwill opened in 1921 as the 19th Goodwill in the United States, offering its own job training and placement services. Today, Goodwill operates work opportunity centers in Tacoma and Longview, WA. Goodwill is a unique, self-supporting 501(c)3 nonprofit that utilizes donations sold in its 37 stores across a 15-county service area and online sales to fund its programs. Additional funding comes from public and private grants and generous financial contributions from the community.
