No one should be overlooked, underpaid, or held back at work because of their body size. When we're talking about inclusion, we need to talk about #obesity too. I’m excited to announce my partnership with EveryBODY Covered, a campaign dedicated to ensuring that everybody has coverage for comprehensive obesity care. Weight stigma and microaggressions are far too common, and many employers still don’t recognize obesity as a chronic disease. When companies fail to provide adequate coverage or resources, it sends the message that employee well-being is not a priority. I’ve spoken with many women living with obesity who feel extremely unsupported at work, and I know how this impacts their career advancement and overall well-being. Data from the Economist and NBCI shows that they earn less money than their colleagues and are less likely to be promoted. The statistics are clear: failing to address obesity in the workplace impacts not only physical health but also equity and inclusion. I invite you to join me and Millicent Gorham of the Alliance for Women's Health & Prevention on Thursday, November 7th at 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT for a free webinar and fireside chat on strategies for destigmatizing obesity in the workplace. 👉🏾Save your spot: https://lnkd.in/eNuerwvk Here’s what we’ll cover: ▪️How obesity is a women’s health issue and how it has a disproportionate impact on women of color. ▪️Why employers should support employees living with obesity and invest in proper coverage for needed care. ▪️Practical strategies for HR leaders and employers to better support employees living with obesity. I truly believe in EveryBODY Covered’s mission and look forward to amplifying the incredible work they’re doing for people living with obesity. Let’s come together to ensure everyBODY is covered! There’s a very real disconnect between employees and their employers at the moment. High-growth companies want to be competitive and profitable by hiring the best talent, but top talent doesn’t always stay at these companies because they don’t have a defined culture. Leaders don’t realize that culture isn’t just programs and happy hours, but it’s defined by the everyday experiences of employees. Here are the problems leaders face that prevent them from enhancing the employee experience: 🔸They’re focused on other business priorities and haven’t invested time/resources into creating an inclusive employee experience. 🔸Rapid growth can lead to talent management inefficiencies, perceived unfairness in promotions and rewards, employee burnout, lack of team alignment, and overall employee dissatisfaction. 🔸Leaders lose sight of how to keep employee innovation high because they’re focused on other priorities. We created The Culture Playbook to help leaders cut through the noise and distractions and focus on the policies, programs, and initiatives that have the biggest impact on employee performance and sense of belonging.
