  • "Students often share with me the difference that I have made in their lives, but little do they know that really, they have been the ones to make a difference in mine.” ~Mrs. Sarah Schmahl. At the beggining of every month, we are going to spotlight a teacher from within our district and post it to our website. For the month of October, we want to spotlight Harriet Thompson Elementary teacher Mrs. Sarah Schmahl. Her amazing background in her career and family can be found by clicking the link here: https://lnkd.in/g532QyYx. Thank you Sarah, your 'shine' will be ever lasting with our GSD students! ❤️

  • This is so great for our GHS students! Our Superintendent Dr. Darling has formed a Superintendent Student Advisory Council (SAC) with our GHS students. The SAC is designed to be a bridge between the student body and the district admin., providing a platform for students to voice their insights, concerns, and suggestions directly to district leadership. As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusivity of student voice within our district, these perspectives will be invaluable!

  • Our Harriet Thompson Elementary had a surprise VIP visit from Jennifer Garner at our school! Ms. Garner is the Artist Ambassador for Save the Children and the co-founder of Once Upon a Farm. Both organizations are proud partners of our 21st Century After-School program, and their representatives were also present during the visit. She had the chance to meet with our 21st Century After-School student ambassadors, along with Linda Rodriguez, 21st Century Site Director, and Monica Manjarrez, Site Coordinator. Together, they discussed the importance of after-school programs in helping students grow their reading and math skills, making healthy choices, and support their social-emotional development. We are so proud of the incredible work happening in our 21st Century programs! #gsdproud
