I want to shine a spotlight on 2 individuals who are behind this picture. Emily Mann and Vicki Wondergem lead the Grandville Public Schools Region III Transition Program that focuses on functional life skills for young adults. They do such an amazing job preparing their students for their next life phase and seem to produce a ray of sunshine no matter where they go. Their students are helping us sticker bags and brighten our days with each visit. #lovewhereyoulive #MakeADifference #ChooseJoy

Meet Oakestown Intermediate! 🏫 We invite our community to join us for the grand opening this Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at 5 p.m.! 🎀 The 60-year-old building at 3535 Wilson Ave. has been transformed and is ready to open its doors as the new Oakestown Intermediate School, serving 5th and 6th graders. Teachers will work in pods that allow for subject-specific teaching. Principal Brian Mulder and curriculum strategist Stacey Byl have spent the past year preparing for this new chapter, ensuring that Oakestown not only meets educational needs but also becomes a place where every student can find their niche. We're also grateful to GMB Architects and O-A-K Construction for their work in making this school perfect for early adolescents! 🔗 Read more about the transformation here: https://lnkd.in/dbcNQJKg #Education #Innovation #StudentLeadership #Community #GrandvillePublicSchools #GrandvillePride #OakestownIntermediate #RibbonCutting

"You have to make sure those kids know that you are on their team and you’re fighting for them." School News Network sat down with our very own Courtney Gritter to get her perspective on how teaching has evolved over the last decade. Mrs. Gritter teaches language arts at Grandville Middle School, and we're inspired by her commitment to supporting students through every challenge! #Education #TeacherLife #MiddleSchoolTeaching https://lnkd.in/gyaMS-7q

Yes, let's hear it for everyone whose career has zigzagged, swerved and U-turned! ✋ 🙋♂️ “I think it’s really refreshing and reassuring for students to hear that most people take a variety of twists and turns before they land on what they ultimately want to do,” said Grandville guidance counselor Lori Koza, who helped organize the series. https://lnkd.in/gnW5X936

Witnessing the positive impact of teachers is nothing short of inspiring! When they put their heads together, new possibilities like this are born. 🎉🌟 FIT 180: Unified Sports is a new course at GVSU. It brings Grandville Transition and GVSU students together to play sports and build friendships. Kudos to GPS Transition teacher Emily Mann, GVSU professors Karol Tiemersma and Colleen Lewis, and the whole team for breaking down barriers and fostering inclusivity. 👏🏽 #UnifiedSports #InclusionChampions #GVSUCommunity #InspirationInAction Read more: https://lnkd.in/g4n-5hxc
