Be Safe Everyone! In the last hour, we have an update on Hurricane Milton. It is already a Cat 5 and still has some warm water to truck through before arriving on the Gulf side of Florida. The west coast of Florida was pounded with Helene a couple of weeks ago, and this one is expected to produce even worse damage. I pray that precautions and evacuations are taken seriously and that those who will be impacted have already planned to move to a safer place. Here are a couple of tips that may help... 1. Your best evacuation route is to go west to the northwest as many of the states north of Florida and northeast are still reeling from the damage of the last hurricane and probably don't have the infrastructure to take in people. 2. If you plan on staying and have an electric car, get yourself a 12-volt to 120-volt converter for the inside of your vehicle if you lose power. Make sure your car is charged to 100%. This way, you can use the converter to run a couple of fans and charge phones and other devices while waiting for power to be restored. (By the way, Ford Lightning comes with these and a 220-volt outlet, so hit up a Ford Lightning owner) I'm kidding, not kidding :) Note: If you are in a flood zone, try to evacuate yourself and your vehicle to a higher level, non-flood environment so your vehicle doesn't get flooded. Electric vehicles have been known to catch fire when flooded due to the chemical reaction of the battery pack. 3. Take out cash from the bank so you have money on you, as power outages can take out credit card processors and ATMs. The most important thing is... Look out for one another and take care of each other. The silver lining to storms like these is that they bring out the best in people, and you see the amount of love and care we have for each other. I know that there are others who will use this situation as an opportunity to hurt others, but for the most part, we have each other's backs.
