Thanks to the Minnesota Twins for their generous donation to Great River Greening, presented at Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. To celebrate the June launch of their Nike Connect uniforms, the Twins auctioned off custom Adirondak chairs inspired by their new uniforms and donated a portion of the proceeds to Great River Greening.

Restoring healthy land and water across Minnesota.
About us
Great River Greening inspires, engages and leads local communities in conserving and caring for the land and water that enrich our lives. We create resilient landscapes, address biodiversity loss, and sequester and store carbon through community-based stewardship. Our work began in 1995 with a massive volunteer tree planting project in Saint Paul along the riverfront and West Side Flats. We have since engaged our communities in the restoration of approximately 45,000 acres at nearly 400 sites throughout Minnesota. Great River Greening’s team has expertise in ecosystem management, environmental stewardship, and community-building. To achieve our vision of healthy, climate change resilient ecosystems throughout Minnesota, we center our work on projects that will build and preserve healthy, adaptive habitats that can withstand the effects of climate change.

Last month, 33 community members joined us at Lebanon Hills in Eagan to visit our buckthorn removal partners, goats! Goats are currently grazing at Lebanon Hills for buckthorn control as part of savanna restoration. We had one of our goat contractors, Diversity Landworks, on site to share helpful tricks to manage goats for improved results. 🐐 Thank you to our partners and funders: Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota Diversity Landworks Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) Lebanon Hills Regional Park 📸: Karl Hakanson 📸: Brad Gordon

How about a before and after comparison for this rainy July Tuesday? One of the best ways to understand what Great River Greening does, and the impact we are making on Minnesota's outdoors, is through photos. Take a look at stunning shot captured by our staff member Matt today, featuring butterfly weed in bloom. We see biodiversity thriving in this restored area in Katherine Abbott Park! #biodiversity #butterflyweed

A river of Pentair blue indeed! These interns made an incredible impact yesterday. Thank you! 🌱 💧
A river of (Pentair) blue 💧 Today, we had the opportunity to take all 88 Pentair interns away from their packed Intern Summit Week in Golden Valley to (literally) get their hands dirty. Everyone experienced the phenomenal work of the Pentair Foundation’s restoration partner, Great River Greening, firsthand by planting 400 native plants along the Rum River. I’m so proud of all of the interns for rolling up their sleeves, braving the summer heat, and creating a positive ripple effect for this watershed. 🌳 #teampentair #pentairproud
