About us
Greater Bergen Community Action is a not-for-profit Community Action Agency. Established in 1967, it's part of a nationwide network of poverty-fighting enterprises which were established as part of the nation’s effort to address the intractable and persistent problem of poverty in America. Through an outstanding Board of Directors with members from the private and public sectors, along with community leaders, Greater Bergen seeks to mobilize public and private resources to change the conditions in which low-income residents live and work, while also changing the institutions which impact their lives.

Last week, GBCA staff participated in the Results-Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA) training for community action organizations. The ROMA training is designed to preserve the anti-poverty focus of community action and promote greater effectiveness among state and local agencies receiving Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds. Greater Bergen understands the importance of staff development and invests in our team to better serve our communities. Thank you to all the staff who participated!

Looking good Anderson Street! GBCA's crew was spotted on-site making a few upgrades, including 20 Belgian block tree belts, 44 planters, and behemoth vases in the park. This is part of Greater Bergen's Neighborhood Preservation Program which aims to maintain the historic elements of the Anderson Street district while maximizing the potential of existing community assets through revitalization efforts.
