  • Today is Election Day, with polls open until 8 p.m. In addition to high-profile races for President and U.S. Senate, there are several important local races, including Dane County Executive. The Chamber Board has endorsed Melissa Agard, whose experience as a small business owner, alignment with the Chamber’s agenda, accomplishments as a local and state elected leader, and vision for economic growth make her the right candidate for this moment. Depending on where you live, there are also several local government and school district referenda. We encourage you to support the Madison Metropolitan School District facilities referendum (MMSD Question 2) that would make needed capital and modernization improvements. Visit MyVote Wisconsin for more information about which races are on your ballot, how to register or update your voting information, or where to find your polling place: https://lnkd.in/d557WKt

  • Chamber President Zach Brandon addressed members of the Rotary Club of Madison last week, marking the fifth time he has been invited to do so since becoming Chamber President. In his remarks, Zach shared a look at the economic trends driving the projections of Greater Madison reaching 1 million residents by 2050. He highlighted our economic and demographic growth, emphasizing the need for dense, transit-oriented development, resilient infrastructure and leaning into our strengths in advanced industries. On the eve of tomorrow's election, he also discussed how Dane County's population trends are having an ever-increasing impact on statewide races. • Yesterday, Chamber leaders and Board members were given the chance to participate in a behind-the-scenes ride and tour of Madison's new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system! For more than a decade, the Chamber has supported BRT service as one step toward alleviating congestion and accommodating the 1 million residents projected to be in Greater Madison by 2050. We are excited to see this project finally coming to fruition and are looking forward to the next steps. Thanks to Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, Tom Lynch, Justin Stuehrenberg and Liz Callin, AICP for arranging this and for being our guides.

  • Congratulations to Shorewood Behavioral Health on the opening of their new 120-bed, state-of-the-art campus in Madison! On this campus, Shorewood is aiming to address the growing need for accessible, high-quality behavioral healthcare services for adults, adolescents and geriatric patients in southern Wisconsin and beyond. It was exciting to see their facilities and help them celebrate this major milestone. Thanks to Chamber Ambassadors Elise Zielicke, Kris O'Kane and Tom Q. for supporting this event.
