It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Mayor Tom Johnson, who served on the GOPC Board of Directors until the end of last year. Mayor Johnson was a steadfast advocate for his community, the Appalachian region, & Ohio's Legacy Cities. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and his constituents/neighbors in the Village of Somerset for whom he fiercely advocated for the past 15 years. https://lnkd.in/g3F8Qj_M

Earlier today, the Ohio Department of Development announced a further $29M in grants from the Brownfield Remediation Program. Today's brownfield grant awards were announced for 36 sites in 23 counties. Since 2021 Ohio has awarded more than $490M to clean-up 462 brownfields in 84 of 88 counties. These funds are making a tremendous difference throughout Ohio. The Brownfield program is an excellent example of the type of programs we need to be supporting long-term to help equip local leaders to offer the housing, downtowns, amenities, & economic opportunities Ohio needs.
