About us
The Y: We're for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Greater Valley YMCA is a volunteer-led, nonprofit, community organization. The Y is committed to strengthening community by positively changing lives every day. At each of our branches, we concentrate our efforts in three areas: Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility. And we do so in a way that upholds the Y’s traditional family values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Honesty. For over 100 years, the Y has made tangible differences in the communities of Allentown, Bethlehem, Catasauqua, Easton, Forks, Nazareth, those comprising the Slate Belt region and the Lehigh Valley as a whole. Founded as individual YMCAs as early as 1897, the following branches of the Greater Valley Y merged together between 2010 and 2015: the Nazareth YMCA, the Suburban North Family YMCA, the Family YMCA of Easton, Phillipsburg & Vicinity and the Bethlehem YMCA. In 2014, the Forks YMCA Education Center was established. The Slate Belt branch was opened in 2015. In January 2017, the Allentown YMCA joined the Greater Valley YMCA. There is something for everyone at the Y. We serve the entire community, from the young child just learning to swim to the active older adult seeking the social, recreational, and physical activities the Y offers. Each branch on this website has its own program brochure which you can open to see all the programs that your local Y-branch offers. Community members are served regardless of age, race, sex, religious affiliation or ability to pay. The Y has a scholarship program, which provides assistance for anyone that cannot afford membership or program participation. The Y holds an annual campaign each year to ask the community to support our charitable mission.

We hosted a visit from Senator Casey at our Slate Belt branch on August 27, providing an opportunity for members of our Senior Hub to learn more about how the Inflation Reduction Act is lowering prescription prices for seniors. The educational session featured comments from the Senator, community members with lived experience, a medical professional, and members of our Y team. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e6y72PfB

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) and River Crossing YMCA officials cut the ribbon at LVHN Childcare Center. Located in the Westgate Mall on Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem, the facility will be independently operated by River Crossing YMCA for LVHN. The health network made an investment to create the facility to provide greater access to childcare services for its colleagues. The center also will provide enrollment spots for community members who are not LVHN colleagues. https://lnkd.in/g54VhyjK
