💙 Ζήτω η Ελλάδα! 💙 On October 28th, 1940, Greek Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas unequivocally rejected an ultimatum from Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini that would station the Axis power in Greece. This day, we celebrate OXI DAY, a reminder to all nations of the steadfast courage demonstrated by the Greeks. #OxiDay #GreekPride #Philoptochos

Philoptochos has a longstanding tradition of supporting Greek Orthodox Constantinopolitans, many of whom were displaced due to the difficult conditions in Turkey during the 1960s and 1970s. Now elderly, they are in need of our continued assistance. In partnership with the Constantinopolitan Society of Greece, which provides housing and care for many of these individuals, National Philoptochos recently made a generous donation. This contribution will supply food vouchers to 140 people over the next four months. Below is a heartfelt message of gratitude from the society, expressing their deep appreciation for our support.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Florida's Big Bend region, the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society is providing crucial financial support for relief efforts. The storm left widespread devastation across Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and beyond, with the death toll rising to 227 and a significant number of people still unaccounted for. In response to the urgent need for assistance, National Philoptochos has committed $25,000 to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and an additional $25,000 to Samaritan's Purse to support their ongoing recovery efforts. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in helping communities rebuild and heal from this tragedy. 🔗 To continue reading, please click here: https://ow.ly/Gpv250TGcIK 📸 Damage from a fallen tree during the remnants of Hurricane Helene is shown on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, in the Oak Forest neighborhood of Asheville, N.C. // Associated Press
