We Make Cover Crops Simple

About us

Helping people regenerate God's creation for future generations" - this is our mission and our passion. Green Cover is headquartered in Bladen, NE with key partners and multiple facilities across the High Plains and Midwest. We specialize in developing and delivering cover crop seed and knowledge for farmers and ranchers across the United States and have even sent seed to space! Why cover crops? Cover Crops are a natural way to improve and build soil health by adding carbon and nitrogen and supporting a strong biological support system for the soil. Healthy soil produces healthy food, and healthy food produces healthy people. Our 2000+ acre farm in south central Nebraska has been 100% continuous no-till for over 10 years and we have been working hard for the last several years to research and incorporate cover crops into our no-till system. We have researched cover crop water usage, cover crop nutrient content, and cover crop effect on following crops and our findings are both exciting and encouraging. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about the unique opportunities cover crops can offer you to increase soil structure, organic matter, biological life, water infiltration rate, nutrient cycling, and wildlife. We have three locations: 1) Bladen, NE ( Headquarters) 918 Rd X, Bladen, NE 68928 (402) 469-6784 2) Iola, KS 30 W Davis St, Iola, KS 66749 (620) 363-0653

  • One of our customers shared this beautiful photo of a momma cow and her calf. She delivered her calf completely unassisted while grazing in a field of cover crop triticale and hairy vetch and has been grazing cover crops ever since. Quote from the customer "All I did was give them a clean, green, sanitary environment, otherwise, they were on their own. A cow can do a nice job raising a calf when she isn't on drugs. " #Covercrops #regenerativegrazing #soilhealth

  • Mung beans are known for being an easily digestible and nutritious legume but they also make for a great cover crop! Excellent drought and heat tolerance make this nitrogen fixer ideal for summer plantings in low rainfall and extreme environments. When comparing price per pound to cowpeas, mung beans will cost more but their small seed size means you get many more seeds per pound. This plant is quick to grow and is a big biomass producer, making it ideal for weed suppression and high palatability makes it a great addition to any summer grazing mix. Plant mung beans with at least 60 days before frost to get the best bang for your buck! https://zurl.co/KJRl

  • One of the six soil health principles we often talk about is to maximize diversity. If there's ever a time for maximum diversity in a cover crop mix, now is that time. The hot summer temps are still dominating, yet days are noticeably shorter, and warm night temps will quickly give way to cooler crisper evenings. This weather pattern creates a perfect environment for a highly diverse mix of warm and cool season cover crops.
