Building homes, changing lives in Northwest Vermont.
About us
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity began in 1984 when a group of concerned citizens gathered to take action on the lack of affordable housing in the region. Since then, the organization has continued to build homes, community, and hope in a service area that includes Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle, and Lamoille counties. Families and individuals in need of a hand-up partner with Green Mountain Habitat to build a safe, energy-efficient, and affordable place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit vermonthabitat.org.

Thank you to the folks at Vermont Federal Credit Union for their support on a rainy day!
A Little Rain Can't Stop The Vermont Federal Team! 🏡 Thanks to Mother Nature's surprise plot twist, our annual Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity build took a little detour this year! Our focus shifted from the original outdoor construction to the ReStore workshop in Williston, where we constructed kitchen cabinetry for three local Habitat for Humanity homes. A kitchen truly forms the soul of any home, acting as a central gathering place where meals are prepared, and memories are made. Crafting these kitchens required both precision and collaboration, involving meticulous measurements, careful assembly of cabinetry, and attention to detail to ensure everything fit perfectly. It was heartwarming to witness our team come together, with each member contributing their unique talents. Their combined efforts and dedication truly brought these kitchens to life, creating spaces that future families will someday call home. 💜 Want to learn how you can get involved with our local Habitat for Humanity? Did you see us on the news? 🔑🔨 Vermont Habitat Affiliates from all over the state came together on Saturday, Sept 21 to raise walls for affordable housing and to raise awareness for the state's housing crisis. We had volunteers from Efficiency Vermont, Norwich University, and local Habitat affiliates come together to build the walls for a home in Barre. 🤝 Special thanks to Zachariah Watson from Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity, Inc. for putting this incredible event together! 🏠 Watch the segment here: https://lnkd.in/e94UfDTG
