The intersection of West Fifth Street and South Washington Street is expected to be closed to motorists beginning next week as part of construction on the BUILD Project. This closure is anticipated to begin on Monday, July 29. It is expected to be in place for approximately 5-6 months to allow for improvements including wider sidewalks, brick crosswalks, site furnishings, and street trees. This work is part of the $48.5-million Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Project that began in August 2023. Signs will be posted to detour westbound motorists onto Evans Street and Dickinson Avenue Extension, while eastbound motorists will be directed to Reade Circle. Southbound traffic on Washington Street will be detoured onto West 4th Street. Pedestrians will be detoured to South Greene Street and Evans Street. These detours are pictured above. Businesses in the area will continue to be open to customers. For more information about the BUILD Project, visit https://lnkd.in/gz9cShdX.
